Robbie France (Drummer Alphaville)
News @ Moonbase today 19-01-2012
Dear friends of Alphaville, it is my sad duty to announce that former Alphaville drummer Robbie France passed away last Saturday. Robbie played in many fantastic bands like Diamond Head, UFO, Ellis, Beggs & Howard and Skunk Anansie. He joined forces with Alphaville in 1995. In 1997 he left the band after an accident in which he severed his Achilles tendon. He then started a successful career as a Radio DJ in Poland, hosting his own program and appearing in numerous TV-shows. Later on, he moved to Spain in order to concentrate on writing his first novel 'Whys & Wherefores', founded his own Record Label "Pulpo Negro Records" and broadcasted for a number of different radio stations. In Alphaville he was the "epicentre" of groove, an almighty power station which would ever supply a sappy, immaculate beat: a bonanza for any band. Above all he was an authentic, reliable friend, always in good humor. Love and respect, dear Robbie, it's gonna be a great drum noise up in heaven now. Marian Gold, Martin Lister, David Goodes, Alex Slavik and Bernhard Lloyd 5 December 1959 – 14 January 2012 Robbie France, 1995
