In recent years I have seen more operas and bought the cds. "Les Miserable" was the first I saw - what an experience! The latest was "The phantom of the opera" in an amazing danish version, the singers were also great, sung with lots of feeling and emotion - I´m listening to the english version of the opera right now - great songs, great lyrics.

These are not considered to be real opera. Just musicals.

I love opera...and operatic voices...(Just got Charlotte Church's new cd for Christmas from a friend)...Me favourite operas are "Otello" "MacBeth" (Ok so I have a liking for Shakespeare...) and "Madama Butterfly" As for Musicals...Ok I am gay alright..."Phantom of the Opera", "Hello Dolly", "Xanadu", "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" (Been to her real house in Denver, Co.) "Brigadoon", "Fidler On The Roof" (Excellent!!), "Jesus Christ Superstr" (Still makes me cry at the end), "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", "Bye, Bye Birdie" (FUNNY ARSE MUSICAL that one), "My Fair Lady", "Camelot" (Seen that one when I was about 8 or 9 at the Glasgow Scottish opera house, very cool...I was impressed even at that age), "Cats", "The Wiz", "West Side Story", "TOMMY!!!!!!!!" <--Awesome! "Victor/Victoria"...Ok ok I could go on all night....but those are a few that I just love

I think Shakespeare is good too! I saw McBeth as a musical-play a few years ago, and I was sold, but unfortunately I haven't had time to read his books...
...and I liked "the Sound of Music"...anyone else here like it...?

All indian movies are musicals, more or less, I´m so tired of it.

But i´ve never been to a real opera, isn´t that very boring?

I was once in real opera... I thought it would be boring but I was wrong... I'll never forget how great it was!

I have never been to a real opera.... and it may prove to be a decent event, however, I really don't care much for musicals in general.... there are only a few I tolerate.... one being the Sound of Music and some of the Walt Disney cartoons....

Most musicals, the characters seem to break into song during the strangest times......

Operas always gave me earache and headache. You know - the divas sing so high that you cannot understand a word. You can hardly call it 'singing'. Call me ignorant.

Thumbs down!

well, I've never liked operatic voices actually, even if I liked the play...actually, to be honest, I think it sounds terrible - at least if you try too much like they often tend to do a bit...
