Erasure have been one of my favourite groups since I heard Oh L´amour.
But I don´t agree with Poul Erik: The worst album they have done (before Loveboat (which is their worst)) is in my opinion Wonderland, The circus and Wild, where I think the songs mostly are too easy. Andy Bell also has improved his singing a lot since those days. Their best albums are in my opinion Erasure (the very long album from 1995) and I say, I say, I say (from 1993, where all the songs are very even and very good).

Here are some favourites:
Ship of fools
Fingers and thumbs
Oh L´amour
Home
Siren song
Rescue me

And here are some songs that I really don´t like:
Pistol
Sexuality
La Gloria
2000 miles

Well guys,as i can see there's a lot of dispatched thoughts around here...
hmmm, well i love Erasure since the early days, and well some of their stuff is not that exciting, but it was still electronic, and as a synthpop fan,i have a great respect for Vince Clarke.
I think the best Erasure albums are "The Innocents" and "Chorus"...but Loveboat is quite strange, because it's a mix of all the things they done over the last few years.
There's a lot of combination available in this album, and it needs to be listened a few times before giving a real judgement.
I quite like it today, but well the 80's were the best era...

I have it on CD at home - I will check the name of the song. It´s actually one of the best songs on that album, which also includes Astral Body.

I quite love Erasure, but the bass on their new album Loveboat is criminal.. It makes everything distorted. However, there are some great songs on the new album. If you have the capability of tunring the bass low on your stereo everything works out.

Actually, I find Carry Your Flag heavily Erasuresque. It's got lots of Vince Clarke synth sounds from the I Say I Say I Say era.
That's the first thing that caught my attention. But I love that etheral sound.

Vince and Andy are really great people though, and very down to earth. I've had the pleasure of hanging out with them a few times. They're incredibly nice! I don't think it's fair though to say that Erasure have not evolved, because they really really have. You can't listen to Wonderland, Wild, I Say I Say I Say, Erasure, and Loveboat and say that there has been no progression. Although I agree that the erasure "sound" has pretty much always been there. So I can understand how people find a consistent link between the albums, thereby concluding that there hasn't been much progression.

Tara : )
