Blauer Angel discussion & translation [Marian Gold posting from Moonbase]
Dear Rossella,
the song is probably strongly inspired by some paranoid spells that held me in their grip by the time when I wrote those lyrics. God, it's all so long ago. There seems to be a kind of doppelganger-motiv hidden inside the text, a quite nasty being/persona/demon that hides behind mirrors, windows, reflexions. Actually there's a song called NEVERMORE on the upcoming album which deals with a simular subject. I'm not sure if you fully understand the lyrics of BLAUER ENGEL, so I give you a rough translation of it: At break of day halfdreamt echoes of night fly by Steadfastly you stare into the mirror which touches your face with its fingers Stringing your image together, millionfold in different times That's only me, it can't be you, you're only watching from afar You scream, I see it in your eyes, I'm only laughing back at you Some other time, freezing on platform 6, destination Berlin via Hannover Commands yell through the station, waggons move into the night An endless succession of windows passes your view like a Déjà Vu And pattern by pattern they melt into the Very Last Passenger That's only me, it can't be you, you're only watching from afar You scream, I see it in your eyes, I'm only laughing back at you Elsewhere at last, Appartement 100 and someone sneaks about the room Three hasty steps towards the balcony, behind my back the door clunks shut Evolving into a roar of 30 slammed doors echoing wild like unleashed beasts And here we are, just you and me, watching each other, falling free You are my scream, I am your face, you're just a pawn and I'm the ace In fact, the last line in wordly translation would be: "...you're the shadow, I'm the light.", but I couldn't resist the temptation of a rhyme. Love and light Marian |

Marian is right, the theme of the song is very similar to Nevermore.
