My only real disappointment is that it was too big an event to run into other Alphaville fans. I thought due to the instrumental set up they might do more songs. I was right at the front so possibly seemed strange to some of the enthusiastic partygoers. everything else was indeed crap. Backing tracks and dancers. Having said that one guy was very excited to see Alphaville so I handed him a flyer about our online groups. I saw some familiar fans in the restricted area but they didn't see me.

Seeing a UK arena singing along to FY was a huge thing for me. Really amazing.

Next stop Glasgow.

I'll be still going to the 3 Arena in October, emo. Other than AV, I' d like to see DR. Alban (It's My Life), Technotronic (No Limits), Maggie Reilly (W Mike Oldfield - Moonlight Shadow) and C + C Music Factory (Everybody Dance Now). Tecnotronic played in the Tivoli in Dublin in 1997. Myself and my wife seen the show. To get to see them all in one night would be great

Maggie Reilly will be good. So the Dublin event is the same kind of thing? I had thought of going but now I think I'll stick with Glasgow. It's only 3 hours away by bus each way which in the Highlands is the equivalent of the next town.

I really enjoyed Belfast. Sometimes I just need to hit the road.

To be fair, that kind of show isn't aimed at a band's fanbase.

Which fact, Kaz. A 3 track show, or a show that the band plays new tracks?

Clare, I missed your post. The line up for the 3 Arena in October looks much better than the Belfast show. That's why I'm going. I'm attending the show mainly to see AV. But to see the other artists will bring me back to the days when my deceased Daughter was alive. She was born in 1982 and we reared our Daughter with some of the bands playing on the night. A trip down memory lane because the very first band she seen was the Prodigy with me when the 03 was known as the Point Theater.

The kind of show they did in Belfast. These 80s / 90s disco things are more like caberet (for want of a better word). That's why they won't play new songs that are more aimed at their own fanbase and will only play their 'greatest hits' for the general public.

One reason why I'm not going to the show in Timisoara at the end of May. It's a different lot of artists, but the same deal.

Had a strange experience today. A colleague aged 23 asked me how it had gone and recounted a discussion over the weekend with her boyfriend where he'd said "Alphaville wrote Forever Young, you know!". She didn't believe him. Obviously he won. Reminds me every day what a classic that song is.
