Should Alphaville have stayed with WEA ?
This is a topic we should have talked about long ago.
When I see all the WEA released albums all around Copenhagen (Denmark) it makes me happy, but when I think about the future of Alphaville without WEA, I canīt see how the band will ever get the exposure they deserve. Yeah, ok...Stark Naked is also available in some stores in Copenhagen, but the danish distributor told me the co-operation with german SPV is over, and it really bothers me that Alphaville have had so many different releases at so many different companys...seems very unstable, and itīs not good. Maybe Alphaville should just have stayed with a huge international company like Warner (WEA). What do you think? Edited by - wii on 26 Aug 2001 21:51:59 |

AV would have more possibilites with WEA. Itīs such a big company, and they can afford so much more than a small label like SPV.
But if AV didnīt feel comfortable with WEA, they should not stay with them. One of the mainthings in making music is the fact that you shouldnīt feel any pressure over you when making music. A big label could be a reason for pressure, so maybe itīs better to find your own way. -I love you dangerously- |

Ok, then think about this:
Do you think the releases of Alphaville have been better since they broke up with WEA? |

No, the releases havenīt been better at all.
With WEA, at least they had to release a certain amount of singles, just to take an example, and they were released this and that date. We knew this. But with a smaller label, they canīt afford to release so much cdīs, so there canīt we expect much releases=there is no promotion because there isnīt anything to promote=AV donīt sell=More people donīt know AV. -I love you dangerously- |

Last weekend I found STARK NAKED in a store here in Kalmar / Sweden....and I was surprised. I have seen the album in Germany and Austria, but not in Sweden....not on the eastcoast anyway.

Yes I do! Iīm worried myself!
AV needs a big label they feel good with, and this soon! They canīt go and wait forever. WEA maybe wasnīt good, but they had the money, and money is a very important part in all this! Quote:

I've seen many AV albums in stores in Moscow. Even Marian Gold's United and was quite surprized...
