You know, when I first heard the line "Big yellow cadillac carry me back home" I on some level really understood it, but I could never actually tell anyone what it means. What do y'all think it means? Is it a spaceship? The sun? or simply a big yellow cadillac?

He he he ... good one, Avihai
He probably noticed that when he was there but he cant change the lyrics now... Marian and I had an "argument" about the meaning of the line : "watching river's waves go by..." THERE ARE NO RIVERS IN JERUSALEM !!! There is one (or maybe more?) outside of the city but it is well known that there are no rivers in Jerusalem. As a matter of fact, it is an Israeli joke to say : im going to swim in Jerusalem @ville - forever and ever. |

Actually I dont think "Jerusalem" is really about Jerusalem. I think he uses Jerusalem as a metaphor for place that is sacret. A destination for salvation. Like a higher stage reached in a love relationship.

I too think Jerusalem is a symbol in this song, but even if he was really singing about the physical Jerusalem, my impression is that he was elsewhere watching rivers waves go by and wishing he was in Jerusalem, be it a spiritualor a physical place.
