Finally I decided to post two new songs here.
As I am always very paranoid when it is about copyright, it took me a hard fight with myself, but finally -as writing songs that noone can see/hear is just as exciting as having sex with noone at all- here they are: Narcotic(prayer of a dead) Please, Mister Narcotize me I'm going crazy Running 'gainst The bars of my cage Alcohol, drugs -I really don't mind Just narcotize me Calm my mind Erase the freedom deep inside And give me modesty instead Let me lay down in my bed (I'm dead, I'm really almost dead) And say: it's allright I got all I need I need no horizon in my life Four walls, and a ceiling That is fine (so fucking fine) Jan Schoenmakers, den 5.10.2003, Jena Scene of the crime When I fell It seemed like a game It seemed I would have a chance I could take it Take it and play Without a consequence In these walls With dirtstains on them I have once sealed my fate While they were staring back at me My ghosts My jury When greed'd my dreams predate Too blind Have not thought of the haunts Have not thought of the drugs That memory provides To find They are strong Cannot sell what I've done And I hoped And I cried Now I run (but) There's no help And there's no escape I return to the scene of the crime Like a villain Like after a kill I'm coming back to you Running Far far away To return anew See the walls The dirtstains on them They have not changed a bit They are the same Same ghosts Same jury Guess this is why I came I'm lost Anywhere in this town Anywhere on this rock We call planet home For the cost Is too high Cannot pay off my thoughts And I cry And I run To deny (that) There's no help And there's no escape -I return to the scene of the crime. Jan Schoenmakers, 4.-5.10.2003, Jena I prefer to dance to my own beat I prefer to sing my own song I prefer to live - do you wanna come along? (Ephemere - Eternal Travelers pt. III) NEW ALBUM RELEASED: Check out my synth-rock band EPHEMERE's latest, the wonderfully synth-heavy LP "Hobos & Architects": www.ephemere.de |

Two songs (good enough to publish) in two days! I really like them. 'bout the songtexts... how did you get inspired? *gg* Hope you're well and you're not into alcohol or drugs. That would be a bad start for a coming superstar ;)

Thank you!
@Dustin: No need to worry - the only drug I crave is music. My inspiration: Moods, visions, ideas...and in the case of Narcotic the very feeling of being very limited by social and cultural constraints and - above all - surrounded by many people who, despite their youth, have given up being spontanious and visionary. I prefer to dance to my own beat I prefer to sing my own song I prefer to live - do you wanna come along? (Ephemere - Eternal Travelers pt. Good idea - haven't yet written one about exactely such one...will work on it.
My favourite of the ones I wrote thatcome close to this issue is following: streetside He`s stuck in crossfire of apathy and rest Looking for the best that will never show He dreams of liberty and freedom to unfold Hope is oh so old, handcuffs made of gold He`s trying to defeat the demons of succes Honesty his dress, coldness his caress He`s breaking walls to see the inner stones between Fences follow fences, eyes have never seen Playing windmills`chess He`s caught on streetside with his emotions torn in a war of different notions he fights for meanings with guns and feathers he fights for any better weather he longs for glory to live forever he`s gonna die Beneath the starlight Of resurrection He`s chasing waters of affection To burn the cradle Of defetism To find the justice he is missing He has no chances To reach this heaven He`s gotta try! The cold nights that he sleeps by bridges to no goal Frozen up his soul, yeaning to get whole The dirt is pulling down the uniforms he wears Missiles against spears, proud against the tears He fights for nothing but a place for him to be Individual, sensual and free He finds the warehouses of monetary gods Immortality of Dollars in the spots Buying paradise He`s caught... We live on illusions Summers would last We`re bound to live with our memories ¼ past, ¾ to come We cannot escape, no, we cannot escape Reinvent us new Stay true to us Future an eternal mystery Past oh so clear And in between The moment we live Is it true?Is it fake? What do we feel Why do we so We settle and tell us the moment`d be right But can we let go? We Get cynic or Dont know what We`ve had until it passed by Nor what we want Where it all should once lead Claim to head for directions Claim to walk with our feet But just let us take With a strange stream that flows To a vague direction That nobody knows In the point of the present At any nowhere We dream life is conscious - to look we won`t dare I look for the best that I will never see What is it? Is it a god? Is it me? Is it our reflection of hope in a world That gives us questions but knows no replys? Getting wiser than wise Lower we rise Looking for ground in eternity For a sense that I never can see but my heart In my dreams and my longings and not with my eyes Words and music: Jan Schoenmakers, 6.12.2001, ende12/01, 4.1.02, 7.1.02, Jena I prefer to dance to my own beat I prefer to sing my own song I prefer to live - do you wanna come along?
