For me it's a typical funk arrangement: a very funky bass line, funky rythmn guitars and the falsetto singing in the verses and a typical AV sound/rythmn in the chorus. A combination that works good for me. The song grows ... Quote:

I couldn´t have said it any better. I have listened a lot to the song in the meanwhile and still my first thought is everytime: "What happened to his voice?" It sounds terrible... The funky guitar is quite nice, the refrain is okay, the verse is not good at all... Just the 2nd half of the song is slightly better, but still... Yes, Willy, 2 out of 5 points at maximum would also be my rating. My expectations for the album were not high at all and after this, they don´t increase. I just hope that "Handful of Darkness" still keeps the magic from the live appearance and the rest... well... we will see/hear. |

Well, at first hearing, my first reaction was "who crushed Marian's toes to make him sing like that".
Now... I find it quite addictive, even if it's very different of the former songs. |

I think humanracer meant chorus, 'cause there are typical double-tracked distorted guitars there, that indeed make it sound more, well, ROCK!
I always wonder why people say that synth-oriented part of AV musicverse is truer than the other parts. For me each and every part is true. But, definitely, more TBB and CrazyShow for me! Spoil the standards! Skip the rules! Screw the charts! Support the underground! I solemnly swear that I am up to no good. [jump1] |

If they have made syntharrangements(Classic Alphaville)then it would have been something special. This sound like something you can hear on every radiochannel these days |

And this song is indeed more radio-oriented, no doubt. It's always like this with singles though - one has to make a clever compromise between mainstream-ness and remaining true to what you are. And to me in this context this sounds like a much better effort than, say, I Die For You Today. It's at least stylish/surprising and not self-nostalgic/conformal. Needless to say, IMHO. I solemnly swear that I am up to no good. [jump1]

So let's hope for the best! Although I doubt that this song will get any airplays at all considering the fact that it's only availible as a download.

That is how radio stations get their promo material these days, so shouldn't make any difference.
