Personal Jesus and Enjoy the silence are always great live, but most DM songs from the past 10-15 years are quite boring....they should play more stuff from the eightees!! |

Hey friends!
I really grew up on Depeche Mode. Am listening to it, though you may not believe it 'cause I was just a little kid back then, since 1989, when my brother got the tapes of both 101 by DM and The Breathtaking Blue by AV. It is out of question for me whether it is a great band or no. But... I shall never agree to the statement that it's a number one group in our circles of musicial tastes. I mean, it can be NumberOneBand in someone's heart, and it is definetly #1 comparing with its "followers" - Camouflage, De/Vision, And One, Cause&Effect and so on, but considering the profesionalism and significance in musicial industry, it is equal with "bands of the same era, but not their clones" such as AV or A-HA. And vice versa, of course. I was on their show this year in St. Petersburg... what can I say.. the worst album anyone could imagine but a great show. And the tradition of waving hands by crowds during Never Let Me Down Again which is known all over the world really impresses, especially when you are standing in the first rows and then you glance back and see a great ocean of Grabbing... khe, Waving Hands. But.. I think I'm hopeless but somehow I believe that I will never get such a musicial euphoria or (forgive me for such a comparison) musicial orgasm as I got during the Forever Young when last time AV was n my city. Hope to repeat that one day... call me a male musical nymphomaniac but I just can't get enough and DM's show didn't appear as a cure for me. Just my humble opinion, of course. Be blessed you all.
