Do you think the new AV album will offer any hit potentiality?

Thought about it for a while after reading one of TheBlue's post, do you guys think that the band will achieve at least some minor success even with bernhard gone?

...for a fan already :-)
I think more, it depends on how will Alphaville sell it. I wish for the guys, when there is a certain success outside the fab circle anytime! ;)

Katrin said it best so far. If the album sells on a mass market, like their WEA releases, there should be at least a couple of singles they could present as hits.

If it's more for the private collector, like Crazyshow, it's not too likely.

Hey, as long as it's good, I'm not that fussy.

Well, that we can only speculate as it does not really carry the weight of certainty. We will all find out how how well it does after it gets released. Though i think it will do a good as AIU if these guys really try.

The only hope AV had/have of even a minor success with the new album is if they sign with a big or perhaps a semibig record company who promote the album well and perhaps release some of the old stuff at the same time as the new album...

And the chances of that happening are slim to none!

There is very small possibility that new album will be major succes, but since it is not released yet there is no chance of knowing

No, it won't. Seriously. Afternoons In Utopia was the follow-up to Forever Young. After AIU their popularity faded and has done so ever since. So in other words, they are hardly in the same wake as they were with AIU.

Add to this that they are 50+ and Marian is the only person left since the days of success - which were over 20 years ago.

Of course it's not impossible to get moderate success, but that would require a release of major record company (the best choice would have been WEA since they carry the bands' back catalogue) and a lot of promotion such as TV spots. As we all know this is extremely unlikely to happen.

I just wished they would have stayed with WEA, then we would have gotten a normal release with professional artwork and it would have gone nicely together with the rest of the "real" AV albums.

Having said this, I don't want to come off as just negative. To the contrary, I'm awaiting this release with much anticipation and in the end what matters the most, is good music.
