Here it is then - my poetic efforts
Ok, I'll let you read some. Only posting one for now. Others may follow soon.
[u]AT CLOSE OF WINTER </u>(1996) To sleep, sweet love, and not to stir, for night has touched your face so fair and laid you down to rest ‘til dawn. I shall not weep. I shall not mourn. The sight of tumbling locks so red adorning you upon the bed as darkness sweeps you up in arms. No ray of light to keep you warm. Your porcelain skin, your sweeping brow; no sun or star will grace them now. No moonlight guides you on your way as you receive the close of day. Your cup, once full, is empty left; your fragile vessel now bereft. So sleep sweet love and do not stay, for I must let your love astray. Must give it wings and let it fly. Must kiss your once sweet lips goodbye. |

Beautiful! Is there a personal story behind this poem?

Thanks all. I wrote it when I was in one of my dreamy phases - off this planet so to speak!
It's about a man sitting with his lover who has just died. It shows the feelings he goes through and his thoughts and how he realises that he must say goodbye once and for all time. |

I got gooseflesh the first time I read this...I could feel the sorrow and loss he felt..and also the realization that life must go on and it's time to say goodbye...Very powerful poem Karen!
