Was the "Song for No One" demo ever released ?
I would love to hear a studio recording of the demo. Has it been released?

Multiple? How do you know there were more than just the one with alternate lyrics? I do know that in the music video for the song, it is a bit different (different drums, and slightly different vocals in certain parts). I remember someone mentioning a "Phantoms" demo was made, where it was a duet of Martin and him, though that's all I heard of that one.

the version of SFNO in the video is a remix by seb komor, unfortunately it's not on the single. early demos of SFNO, like the moonbase version, have different lyrics. there is also an unreleased recording from june 2009 where Martin sings the verses and marian the refrain.
in general asking for the number of demos for a specific song isn't easy to answer, as marian iterates his songs over and over. New Idea, new iteration, new Demo. There are 12 different demos of Heartbreak City that I know of, and that's probably just a small selection. 'Marionettes with Halos' for sure tops this easily. Maybe also "House of ghosts" |

Wow! Interesting. How do you know all of this? I find it so interesting to look into the history all of the released songs. It makes me wonder where the vocal tracks on the "Forever Pop" demo originated from? They aren't in anything released other than those remixes. I think they were from some near-complete demos which are lyrically the same as the final version's. Thanks for all this info!

You run that blog? Wow! I'm actually one of the winners of that 2013 "London Sky" contest you had at one point. Sadly, I lost the MP3 and email with the attachment. It was a beautiful song. I wish that Marian would consider putting Criminal Girl on the upcoming album.
