"Metaluna" is confirmed in the booklets of the FY Deluxe versions.
The titles of Elevator on the demotape is "Metaluna" and "Metaluna (rhythm?)".

The demoversions of Metaluna/Elevator is not released what I know.. Just "Elevator remix" on Dreamscapes. Or maybe it's just the demoversion.

Wow, best resurrection of topic ever, ten years later, at last you provide the answer *clapping*
Metaluna - "beyond the Moon" - is a planet in the Sci-Fi movie This Island Earth, maybe a clue.

Haha! A riddle is solved :)
At first I was very excited that I maybe have found a hidden unreleased Alphaville song from 1984. Then I search in the forum for "Metaluna", and found your 10 year old post. The only post about it.
Thanks for the info jetset!
Love Alphaville riddles.

Hey, thank you very much jetset (& hardin)!

There was a time I was gathering as much DVD of sci-fi movies from the 50's or early 60's that I could find. I had a collection of maybe around 100 zone 1 or 2, wich I found pretty impressive as I didn't buy the real bad ones, so they were all watchable at least. It was sold to a small movie theatre owner.

Anyway I'm a little ashamed cos' I didn't make the connection despite 'This Island Earth' being a favorite of mine. Most of the movie is a little bit boring but the last (and too short) part takes place in outer space & on Metaluna and was very good fun. The movie was directed by Joseph Newman but this last part was directed by uncredited Jack Arnold. IMHO he was one of two directors underestimated of this era with Nathan Juran. He made solid b-movies wich never failed to entertain.

some movies by him:
It Came from Outer Space (53)
Creature from the Black Lagoon (54)
Revenge of the Creature (55)
Tarantula (55)
The Incredible Shrinking Man (57)
High School Confidential! (58), not sci-fi but I had to include it...
The Space Children (58)
Monster on the Campus (58)
Hello Down There (69)

some movies by Nathan Juran (including 3 graced by Harryhausen's FX) :
The Black Castle (52)
The Deadly Mantis (57)
20 Million Miles to Earth (57)
The Brain from Planet Arous (57)
Attack of the 50 Foot Woman (58)
The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (58)
Jack the Giant Killer (62)
First Men in the Moon (64)
The Boy Who Cried Werewolf (73)
