Can't help but laugh when I hear T&L. Yes, it's a fun song, makes a great rock song, but the fact that it evolved into the "Flame" ballad is really quite interesting.

Of course, I don't really need to throw in any examples. Just compare the lyrics!

I totally understand this, but to your similar non-surprise I totally disagree.

I've told a couple of times that DS is great fan thing, but I never really liked it too much - there is just
too much irrelevant stuff on it - that's no criticism actually, because MG explained the concept, which,
as I understood it, was to show fans also the strange paths musicians can walk on through the time
of making records. That's okay. And there are a couple of very charming demo versions (specially
the very early stuff, like SLAM (Demo 1) or Leben ohne Ende etc...)
Still the songs of the entire DS I like do fit one CD!!

And I agree with this:

Although DS 5 is no exception to what I said before.
The only songs I like on it are To The Underworld, Burning Wheels, The Shape Of Things To Come,
Today (which somehow always reminded me of Fisher-Z), And I Wonder.
Because Of You is a great song, but one of the rare eternal fights I'll have with Kaz is that I prefer
the CS Demo thing, because it's a captured magical moment - no matter or because of the imperfection
(And I tell you something: If I was a big record producer I even would have taken this version on a regular
highly-produced AV album from the wea-era!).

Btw. You'll have noticed I have included the So Long Celeste songs, cos to me they differ from the
album versions and if we let people choose Because Of You, it's rather consequent to do that to
them too.

So you see: I DON'T like any other song of DS 5 except those I've told!

And if there had been a real production out of that demo stage, I think there could have been emerged
a very good rocky album, because a good song is a good song is a good song.
We all know the various characters MG is playing with when he sings. And those kinds he did on
these songs are very fine to me. I like his performances there very much.

Another addition about Rock and AV: As you can tell by my choice, I DON'T like the tries in what
I call (US-American) Stadium Rock there as well, but not so because AV does that, but since I generally
hate that calculated and soulless, uninventive, Clap Your Hands-stuff!
Peace On Earth or Highschool Confidential is what I mean.
And to me that has nothing to do with what I understand as Rock!

Saying this although there are nice Stadium Rock-clichés I'm fine with: The intro of Roll Away The Stone is one of that:
It's so over the top that you have to like it.
But only the intro I said!

The only one I'm helpless about is The End. Let's say it's not uninteresting and doesn't bother me.

Ok, these many lines show this is a controversy thing. And that's very good. That's art!

Cheers,

Ja-cubed

I like the rock sound of the 5th disc. I listened to a lot of rock in the 80's so its partly nostalgia for me. BTW, 'Highschool Confidential' was a huge hit for a group named Rough Trade who happened to be from Toronto Canada. Because of this it got a lot of airplay where I live. I was surprised to see it on Dreamscapes.

I voted for Thunder and lightning. For some reason it just fits sometimes.
