How do you organize your music collection ?
I decided to get rid of the old wooden CD wall rack and go the modern way, save all my CDs in cases and keep the original jewel cases in the attic, I save lots of space and it's much easier to find a CD.
Next step is to get everything converted to MP3, not sure which approach to this I will take, what about you |

I used to have a clear plastic curtain with pockets at my old flat and kept the CDs and sleeve notes as a wall display. I think the plastic boxes were in a box on a shelf at the time.
Unfortunately I didn't have anywhere suitable to hang it here and the curtain itself got damaged in a flood. All my CDs are back in their boxes and boxed up. I listen to music on my PC and mp3 player. ....it was them what drove me to drink!" [drunk] Grandad, Only Fools and Horses (UK sitcom) |

Nice carpet.
I prefer the classic way, CD+cases. I like to leaf throught booklets, reading the lyrics. And those from Prostitute are quite illegible. |

For me there's notheing better than Ikea's good old cheep Benno:
Btw, the Alphaville shelf is in the fifth row from above, third rack. [smile2] If you look properly you can make out the Tribute to Alphaville CD on the right. |

I have several and various kinds of racks and shelves for CDs, vinyl and, yes, tapes.
Btw. I recorded a couple of vinyl records I like to listen to a lot on CD. 95% of the music on my PC are wav-files btw. Раз, два, три - Это верно ты! |

I scanned all of them into Itunes and put all the cds in a big box that is now buried in the closet..... I realized that I only listened to them on the Ipod or the computer so there is less clutter with all of them put away and my entire cd collection is now on my Ipod.

I try to keep 'em like so:
First, by band or artist's last name. Then, the chronological release date of their albums. Soundtracks are separate unless they're done entirely by one band/artist. Same goes with any holiday CDs. Seeing as how I have so many CDs that it's hard to keep 'em all in one place, I have been making out note cards and filing each band/artist on one card (two if I have more than 10 CDs).
