AIU / Neverending Story

THIS WAS FOUND ON THE MAILINGLIST!!!
PLEASE RED IT, IT´S REALLY, REALLY AMAZING!

ORIGINALLY SEND TO THE MAILINGLIST BY "THE OUTSIDER":

"Hi Marian/Bernhard:

I'll go you one better. How about the filmic references in
Afternoons In Utopia?

Bear with me about the length of this message (but I also included a
surprise). By ignoring the "gender" of AIU characters (along with
references to dolphins) which I considered Red Herrings (or Red
Roses) to mislead us, we have:

1. Fantasia: The peaceful land (a.k.a. Utopia/Gardens of
Delight/Jerusalem) suddenly bewitched and threatened to be devoured
by The Nothing.
2. The Nothing: (a.k.a. The Atmospheres/The Outlands) Looking like a
terrifying fiery thunderstorm (Ashen roses rain on the field). It is
a devouring emptiness that is consuming Fantasia (sinking to the
Channels of A'DAAR).
3. The Childlike Empress: Ruler of Fantasia (a.k.a. Universal
Angel/Teen-Angel Empress), who falls deathly ill in conjunction the
arrival of The Nothing.
4. The Ivory Tower: Home of the Empress (a.k.a. Palace of the
Sun/Universal Kingdom Number One). The last structure standing in
Fantasia after it's near destruction by The Nothing (City of the
Million Moons/Martian-Homesick City).
5. Atréju: Hero of the Plains People (a.k.a. The Voyager) who
sets out on the quest to find a cure for the dying Empress without
knowing the path (but he'll find it).
6. Bastian: The Earth Child (a.k.a. Little/Beautiful/Innocent
Dreamer) residing outside the boundaries of Fantasia who, after
losing his mother, believes more in his dreams than reality. He
holds the cure for the Empress and is the only hope for Fantasia.
7. The Auryn: An Amulet (a.k.a. Master of the Icy Shots) given to
Atréju, to guide and protect him during his journey, shaped like
two intertwined snakes biting each others tails (69). After the near
destruction of Fantasia, (in the book, not the movie) it is given to
Bastian by the Empress; he turns it over to read the inscription
"Do What You WISH" meaning to use his imagination to rebuild Fantasia
(unfold the secrets of the new Jerusalem).
8. Artax: Atréju's "pearl-white" horse and faithful
companion (a.k.a. Mr. Rainbow) who dies in the Swamps of Sadness
(north of The Underworld).
9. Falcor: The LuckDragon, the giant "pearl-white" dragon
with a dog's face (a.k.a. Mighty Maomoondog). He is actually Artax
reborn (The Phoenix) who flies in to save and accompany Atréju for
the remainder of the quest.
10. The Southern Oracle: (a.k.a. The Southern Cross) The blue-
colored twin sphinx statues who inform Atréju that only The Earth
Child holds the cure for the Empress, shortly before crumbling to the
power of The Nothing.
11. Moonchild: The Cure; the new name for the Empress. Originally
the name of Bastian's deceased mother, `he shouts it out'at the last
instant and saves Fantasia from total destruction.
12. The Neverending Story: The "stardust dawn"-colored storybook that
Bastian takes from a bookshop. Also the title of the 1979 German
book and 1984 German movie of the same name.
13. Afternoons In Utopia: The 1986 alternate soundtrack to the
movie "The Neverending Story" exactingly created and crafted by the
German musical group "Alphaville" (Gold, Lloyd, Echolette) to
coincide with the images and events contained in the movie.
14. Marco DeConno, an "Alphaville" and "Neverending Story" fan who
(while living in Germany during the 1980s) was privileged enough to
get behind closed doors at Bavaria Studios to see the LuckDragon in
1984; knew about the AIU/NES connection since 1986; has kept it a
secret for 15 years; and has not since watched "The Neverending
Story" without starting up AIU.

To enjoy this alternate version, simply start up the CD and
immediately pause; forward to Track 2 "Fantastic Dream" (at this
time, ensure that you set the CD to "repeat" as it will do so three
times total). Now start the movie and the exact moment that the
screen lights up to show the

Really really strange!
My teacher in Russian and German once asked me if I collected something. I said Yes - Alphaville-cds. Then he asked: "Hmm...Alphaville, they who made Neverending story, or something like that?"
"No - Forever Young", I answered...

Could it be a coincidence?

see me through - i'm a soulman...

Beautiful site, Willy! Of course this is no official story, whatsoever. It´s a theory. But it´s really beautiful... And how AIU syncs with the movie it´s too obvious to be a coincidence... I would love too know what Marian have too say of this...

With all my love - I went into the world

This gets even more amazing...
BERNHARD I WANT YOUR OPPINION OF THIS!!

originally posted by marco on the mailinglist:

"Additionally, it seemed odd that (since all music CDs are usually
pressed with a two-second gap between songs), and there were
discrepancies in AIU (7-second gap before LCH, for example); I
figured that something was up.

Shortly thereafter, I read an article in an English magazine that it
was found out that Pink Floyd had actually structured DSOM to match
WOZ. So I gave it a try. Alas, I kept it my own selfish secret :)

In bits and pieces, the link to NES is not apparent, but by changing
certain events in the CD and filtering out some of the characters
(which are meant to throw you off) - the story unfolds:

Dolphins:
In the AIU Storybook, Gold, Lloyd, Echolette are called "The Dolphins
of Pop" (go to the AV Encyclopedia website to see it). On the CD
Lyrics Jacket, what do you see? That's right, three dolphins next to
the trio. They are the voice that you listen to, obviously - it's
their music. When everyone thinks of AIU, they think of Dolphins -
the band had succeeded in throwing you off the path. So now remove
Dolphins from the AIU quotient, and the link to NES makes perfect
sense.

Red Rose:
Actually this is Part 2 to the whole cover-up, which starts
in "Lies". If you re-read the lyrics to Lies, they actually speak of
telling the truth by making a big lie (mixing facts and fiction) and
making a makeup in a foolish style (covering the story by singing of
dolphins) last but not least "and you know what to do with a clue". -
Here they are laying the groundwork of what they are going to do and
that you cannot always believe what they say.
In Red Rose, they speak of the "teenangel-empress from Hollywood
highs" (refer back to Lies, Hollywood is the place of liars) she is
lied to as well "wonderful eyes, gonna be a star, you're beautiful,
you got the power, we'll be together till the end of time, when you
smile - it's like blue sunshine" all typical lies. She has six
different names total in the song but her name is not Red Rose (that
is a repeating phrase in the chorus). Red Rose has to be a pseudonym
for a red herring or a Lie (Scarlet Beast). Red Rose (Lie) and Blue
Sunshine (Truth) which are constantly changing when put together. -
Here they are reminding you of misleading facts.
In Part 3 Danger in your Paradise, Marian sings of leaving "crimson
roses" behind; and spreads "roses" in your paradise. - In essence,
admitting that he has left red herrings in the past.

The only pertinent lyrics in 'Red Rose' referring to NES was Line 6
and 7 and the entire last verse (everything else was a Red Rose).

Lady Bright:
Simply the means to tie both ends of AIU together to make
it "neverending." Homage to "DARK" side of the moon which Pink Floyd
created as the alternate soundtrack to Wizard of Oz. It was your
first real clue (and it was the last jingle on the CD).

So remove these three subjects and you got the movie. Oh, and
another good source of NES materials is Dreamscapes. Listen to the
demos of the songs to see the lyric changes. Also, check out the
unreleased and b-sides. Check out First Harvest and listen to
Sensations, at the end is that odd "bump" sound that is not present
on the album version; that's the Rock Biter hitting the mountain on
his gray rock-bike (not the orange paper-bike).

Oh, and forget The Ivory Tower - AVs desperate attempt at throwing
many clues for the first time (instead of Red Roses), but the
Audience wasn't listening. The first line should have read "Here are
the clues from my little hideaway".

Unfortunately, now you realize that everything you read and knew in
the past has been supplied to keep you from knowing the secret. I
always took anything written about AV (Websites and Dreamscapes
Booklet) with a grain of salt, they're all Red Roses to lead you in
the wrong direction.

The only reason I "spilled the beans" was I w

well, that would change this incredable story of Alphaville and NES together..i really feel its creepy in some way that Alphaville is so much tied and linked to my childhood..everything has became a mysterie since i read this topic..and especially that line about BIJ's birthday when the world saw the musical group Alphaville for the first time had some magic sound...this is really Utopia i feel..
