I'm going to print all your lyrics and hang it on my wall. And if somebody asks me "Who is your favorite poet?" I'll answer "Russ Harvey". <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
But seriously, I really like all your songs. I can see you through... |

Alien (Black and White) - 11/26/01 You're so weak but you're so strong Never right and never wrong Speak your mind but not out loud Hate yourself but you're still proud In control while in a spin Never lose but never win Tell the truth and tell a lie Afraid to live afraid to die In the dark but full of light A pacifist you want to fight You're just a mystery And it's clear to me You're just a mystery And it's clear to see You're just a mystery A mystery to me Fall apart but in control Gone to pieces you're still whole Always crying when you smile Hurry up and wait a while With your friends you're all alone Your soul is soft your heart is stone Your minds made up you can't decide You like to walk you like to ride Never cold and never hot Always something that you're not You're just a mystery And it's clear to me You're just a mystery And it's clear to see You're just a mystery A mystery to me Never lost but never found In the sky and on the ground Always going but never there You can cheat and you're still fair Always scared but never afraid Sold your soul and never paid Right side up and upside down You still laugh but with a frown Love to dance but hate to move In a rut while in a groove You're just a mystery And it's clear to me You're just a mystery And it's clear to see You're just a mystery A mystery to me Russell Harvey (from 'a rough sketch') ***This life is expensive, but at least it comes with a free trip around the sun!*** Edited by - russharvey on 09 Dec 2001 19:33:19 |

Here is yet another - seems like November has been a creative month!
The Miles Between Us - 11/28/01 I got your email late this evening You said to call but you're not home Left a message now I'm waiting With my hand still on the phone On the floor staring at the fireplace Shadows dancing on the wall Stuck in the vacuum of technology While the clock hardly moves at all The miles that are between us They can't keep us far apart Lonely but I feel you near Because you're in my heart The miles that are between us Just a part of time and space It won't be much longer now And I can touch your face I keep your picture in my pocket Though it's worn and fading gray Counting down the days until You can come to me and stay Frustrated I pick up the phone Because there is no other choice At times there is no substitute I just need to hear your voice The miles that are between us They can't keep us far apart Lonely but I feel you near Because you're in my heart The miles that are between us Just a part of time and space It won't be much longer now And I can touch your face It won't be much longer now And I can touch your face Russell Harvey (from 'a rough sketch') ***This life is expensive, but at least it comes with a free trip around the sun!*** |

i wish i had your talnts in writing..i get specific pictures of every written part and they all hang together..my songs seem messed up and weird.. the untitled was very good to..seemed to me like a unpersonality song...about someone who really dont know where to turn..i loved it!! keep on writing,i bet the price in 82 wont be the only one /Defender-The Watcher Of The Scene |

Legacy: Great lyrics! They have the mystification that lacked a little bit before. But, be honest: The first lines you "borrowed" from my favourite poem: "The road not taken" from Robert Frost!Still dreamy output!
"x-ray eyes" reminds me a bit of "x-ray-eyes" by Robin Gibb (who I also appreciate a lot) - would be nice in 80`s e-style, dont you think? for untitled I`d just suggest "the unknown". The miles between us is fine, but my personal fav rests legacy for the poetic style. GREAT ideas! We are what we are - the meaning of life |

Of course I borrowed on that one Streetside! Robert Frost (The Road not Taken)is one of my all time favorite poets! The poem Ozymandius (although not by Robert Frost) is another poem that has personally inspired me.... and the reference to the dragons on Pern is a reference to another favorite author - Anne McCaffrey! Finally, reference to Harry is of course... Mr. Potter, who my kids just love!!
By the way...... I sure hope you weren't suggesting that my previous songs weren't good because they didn't mystify you! ;) ***This life is expensive, but at least it comes with a free trip around the sun!*** Edited by - russharvey on 09 Dec 2001 19:57:25 |
