Alphaville 30th anniversary in Paris
OK, so the discussion has not only started on the mailing list, but also on the German forum. Suppose it's about time we started discussing it here too - more than two years can hardly be called "short notice"...
From my side, I love the idea and not only because I was the one who started the whole thing off, or so Marian says. We have more than two years to plan for it and save for it and the idea of celebrating in this particular area of Paris that Marian and I have been talking about really appeals to me. It's not like the whole charade with the 25th anniversary in Prague, where the date was wrong for many people, the place was wrong and the notice was short. The mailing list folks seem to be well up for it and that's great. Yet, even with more than two years to go, there are some people already starting to complain about it with ridiculous reasons like the language difference, the attitude of the French people and that they do not like to speak English or other languages except French (in France? well, quelle surprise! Could see me getting far going everywhere in Germany speaking English...hmm...) and that Paris is expensive. As I said, we have more than two years to save for it so cost should not be a problem. However, I find the other reasons given so far to be a bit narrow-minded and am actually offended by these. Also, it's Marian's dream to have this in Paris so who are we to argue? We don't have to go if we don't like it...

Great idea to start this here as well Kaz ! 2 more years waiting but I'm already jumping for joy if the idea for Paris will be true ...dont care too much about people complaining. As a true fan I would even go to Mars for their parties

The language difference? Was English then an official language in Czech Republic in 2009? I kinda missed the news about that! [smile2]
I like the idea of Paris even though I didn't like the city when I was there. But so many years later I'm ready to give it a second chance. So I'm gonna do all possible and impossible to get there if the anniversary party is indeed there! *MADE IN USSR* |

I definitely want to be there, and certainly it's not short notice. [bouncy]
I only hope ticket sales won't start in six months. [smile2] |

I hope it can happen sooner, Richani, but right now I can only plan for the longest term. [smile2]
