When I was a teenager my dad upset me telling me Alphaville were on tv, and it was the film. He knew what it was and wanted to tease me.

@Avil: I have the movie on tape. Only in german, though. No subtitels.
If you want to borrow it, we maybe can arrange a meeting....? It is, my oppinion, a very boring, black and white "deckare". I havenīt seen it to the end... Life is a confusing thing |

Many "film Noir" fans consider it a great classic.
I think I've read somewhere that Ricky Echolette actually took his name of a character from the movie. Can anyone confirm or disconfirm this? |

I don't remember that Ricky's name was mentionned in the film, but I could watch it again.
I may be the only one who loved this film and I can easily understand why AV loved it too: just imagine that you're a child in the sixties, and you see this film (with the beautiful Anna Karina) treating of the way your life could turn into in the world you're living in. Remember how life was at this time.It must have been a strange feeling to watch such a film. Godard said once that Alphaville was another name for Paris, and if you read between the lines you understand that he showed something interesting: the town is mastered by a computer, no feelings are allowed and if you love someone or if you try to get free from this system you are killed. We are in the year 2002...see what our society became...
