as far as i'm concerned, my fave Erasure albums are : The Innocents and Chorus...
And yes They have evolved indeed, the sound is less "childish" than the first songs (cf wonderland),i always loved Erasure, and i'll always do.It's not a question of being a blind fan or whatever, but in my opinion Vince Clarke is an electro genius, the boffin behind his modular keyboards.

Ps: yes i also find that the bass in Loveboat quite "strange"...i prefer the pure elctronic stuff, but hey that's another question.

well i go back to the new Spock album!!!!

I've always liked Erasure, one of my favesongs is "Ship of Fools"...
It's true that Erasure hasn't changed a lot after the 80's...I remember when I once listened to their cd "Pop - the first 20 hits" and I couldn't believe that most of the songs on it were from the late 80's or the early 90's! They sounded so "-84" somehow...
as a "Vince Clarke"-fan I also like "Yazoo" very much... Alison Moyet's voice is very powerful and good...

I guess i should own up to being an Erasure fan too.The first album i got was Wonderland,i was duty bound to buy it for 2 reasons, firstly it was on Mute records and if something came out on Mute in the 80s you could almost guarantee great electronic music, and secondly Vince Clarke, need i say more.
My top ten Erasure tracks must be:-
Ship Of Fools
I Love You
Crown Of Thorns
Leave Me To Bleed
Brother and Sister
Cry So Easy
My Heart So Blue
Breath Of Life
Witch In The Ditch
The Circus
...but not necessarily in that order. In fact when i think about it Erasure have done so many fantastic songs, they're such a great live band as well, the Innocents tour was superb.
Choosing a best album is very difficult,i love them all except the last 2,which i still think are good but a bit below par.
I remember a friend of mine who likes Erasure didnt like the 1995 album saying the songs were too long so i fed the whole thing in to my pc and through my sequencer and edited down every track,he absolutely loved it then,i think i done a pretty good job of it too if i say so myself.
Regaurding the point about them elvoving,i think they certainly have, although possibly in the wrong direction.

Picture time! This is me (blonde) with Andy and Vince at CFNY, our local Toronto radio station in 1995:

They are so down to earth and fun to talk to. Andy singned like a hundred things for me he was so nice. I really like their sense of humour too. I haven't listened to Erasure much lately, but whenever I put them on, I remember why I love them so much.

Tara :)
