Thanks Ana. Yesterday the waves were not as high as expected in the coast. Today there are no news about if the radiation leak could arrive to Mexico.

What about all of you? Are there special indications for being outside?

I've just been talking to my son, who works at the Sellafield Nuclear Plant in the UK, about this radiation thing. Don't believe everything the media tells you...

BTW, reports of a meltdown have not been confirmed. The Germans have got it wrong.

Geologists are saying the earth's axis has moved 25cm and the main island of Japan has moved 2.4m.

It hasn't happened yet. They are just concerned that there may be another explosion at the plant where the first one was. One British reporter there for Sky News has tweeted that the estimate of the magnitude of the earthquake has been raised to 9.0 now.

The radiation levels at the moment are not that high - they are just much higher than normal but that has to be taken in context. It has been reported that the background radiation level was 8 times normal after the "leak", which was actually from the steam that the plant released to ease pressure on the core. When you know the figures involved you see that you get more radiation exposure from a chest x-ray.

This is just to find out how much they have picked up. The longer a person stays in the area, the more they will pick up but it's not even at lethal levels. That's why they are getting people out of the area now as the less exposure a person has, the better it is for them, obviously.

Two really good links to show why the nuclear thing in Japan is not as major a cause for concern as the actual earthquake and, more importantly, the tsunami:

http://ansnuclearcafe.org/ (American Nuclear Society)

http://morgsatlarge.wordpress.com/20...lear-reactors/ (opinion of a scientist who has extensive experience of the nuclear industry in Germany)

Much of what the news is telling people is actually scaremongering.
