Alphaville Chart Positions
I searched but I didn't find a topic (you have to be careful these days) on this subject, except for one about the Swedish re-entry of Forever Young.
Now, I've always been curious as to how well albums such as Prostitute and Salvation did in the charts, or singles such as Fools and Wishful Thinking? For this I think especially of Germany, where they did have some promotion for those releases... Anyone who can shed some light over this? Regarding the chart history in Sweden (top 60) I do know this: Singles #1 Big In Japan #1 Sounds Like A Melody #1 Forever Young #17 Jet Set #5 Dance With Me #15 Big In Japan 1992 A.D. Albums #1 Forever Young #7 Afternoons In Utopia #39 First Harvest 1984-92 (first entry 1992) #13 First Harvest 1984-92 (re-entry 2000) This info is taken from an official sales chart book which name I cannot remember at the moment, but I have a copy from the page and the info is official and can also be found online.

I also remember that they made a sort of re-release of the album around that time, with a TV spot promoting the album, do you recall this? All I can remember about it though was that it featured the Forever Young video and a speaker that among other things said that their "period of success was short but memorable"...

Yeah, I knew about the Billboard positions but had no idea about the rest! Maybe I should try that Google sometime Btw, Stark Naked was #1 on the German alternative chart as well but I guess everybody knows that.
What about countries such as Finland and Denmark then? |

I had all that info once. When I moved out from my parents I had to leave some stuff behind because I only moved to a room in a friends cellar and before I got around to picking it up my dad had thrown it all away. I had saved all Alphaville chartpositions in Danish and German magazines and all clips about Alphaville in general so I lost a lot of great stuff that way....
I have been trying to find the info online but so far I have not been lucky! |
