Any Missing Persons will do as well.

Isn't Europe's "Final Countdown" post-86? I remember it when it was new, but I thought that was more '87 or '88.
Nope, '86 were the year of its release (the beginning of '86, actually).

Now, these songs (some of which you have already chosen) are mandatory on a 80's compilation for me:

The Sun Always Shines On T.V. - a-ha ('85)
Forever Young - Alphaville ('84)
Sometimes - Erasure ('86)
Only You - Yazoo ('82)
State Of The Nation - Industry ('83)
I Want To Know What Love Is - Foreigner ('84)
Heaven - Bryan Adams ('85)
Every Breath You Take - The Police ('85)
The Day Before You Came - ABBA ('82)
New Moon On Monday - Duran Duran ('84)
Billie Jean - Michael Jackson ('82)
Born In The U.S.A. - Bruce Springsteen ('84)
Material Girl - Madonna ('85)
Eye Of The Tiger - Survivor ('82)
You're My Heart, You're My Soul - Modern Talking ('85)
Just Can't Get Enough - Depeche Mode ('82)
Shout - Tears For Fears ('85)
I'm Still Standing - Elton John ('83)
Catch Me I'm Falling - Real Life ('83)
The Riddle - Nik Kershaw ('84)

Already on your list:
Words - F.R. David ('82)
The Final Countdown - Europe ('86)

Great choice, one of my favourites from the early 80s. Industry's only album Stranger To Stranger was released in 1983. Wasn't State Of The Nation released in the same year?

How about this: In '81, Jim Steinman released his own album, Bad for Good. The title track or even his version of "Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through" would be pretty good.
