Montego Bay is special
Hello to all Alphavillians,
on the dreamscapes cd8 a song calls out to me "montego bay" very special song!! music, tone, sound, subject? Does anyone know more about the purpose of this song? why did they do it and where? what is the subject? why this tone? why this style of music? it's very special and that's what we love about alphaville but this song is really the only one that has that effect on me! I can't say that I like it or that I don't like it, it calls out to me and surprises me, that's all.. the rest of the cd is splendid and it could have made a great studio album.. If anyone has an opinion and information on this song I'm interested.. thank you philippe france |

Many years ago we used to joke about how most of us disliked Montego Bay, but I don't think we ever discussed what it was about. Also, I remember Marian telling something about picturing himself as some sort of dying dinosaur on the beach, but I can't find the source in my files or here. ;(
Yet, here are some links to a couple of those discussions. You might have a little fun with them: - The Worst Alphaville Song - Party in Berlin 2004 - See me through You might also want to look at old chats where Marian briefly mentioned the song and changing his mind about it: :D - Chat Transcript with Marian Gold 07 May 2014 - Chat Transcript with Marian Gold 19 Sep 2018

There was a time when AV fans used to talk about meanings in every song. It's a shame we don't do that anymore, but I'm glad some fans still think about their meaning. :)
I also agree that many songs in DS could have made great albums. :D |

thank you MalilaM, I like very much marian and especially how he puts in song his dreams and how he marries the words in the middle of a music and a voice often very successful. I never tire of listening to all their albums that bring me joy every day.. I regularly search for translations on the net and explanations that are given on his texts and really it is an exceptional character and group! I hope he will be happy to release soon! his latest album "thunderbaby" because his voice changes and is not as crystalline as before! but were all getting older! Im 55 and Ive been following them since the beginning.. greetings to all from the west of France. Excuse me if my translation is not good but I am not very good in English!

Don't worry about the translation, I think what you mean is well expressed. We ask all users to write in English here, because it's easier for everyone. :)
I think we all still agree that the main thing that brought us together was Alphaville music and lyrics quality. =) We're glad to have you around! |
