Still Falls The Rain
I'm really getting into CS now, particularly DS10.
I have to say that I find 'Still Falls The Rain' a completely beautiful song. Took me a while to get into anything really, but this song is constantly in my CD player now. It makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck and the piano is so wonderful. Creates some marvellous imagery too, and Marian's voice is awesome. Having said that, whilst I was listening to this earlier, my mum was on the phone and she asked if I was listening to Barry Manilow?????? So the question begs then, is this song so very far removed from what we know as Alphaville? Does it really matter if this is the direction that Marian wishes to take? I for one am very happy with it - but not with the Barry Manilow comparison! (she did only hear it over the phone tho...) I think that Alphaville doesn't really have a sound and never has. To me anything goes, as long as it sounds good. Listen to the songs from over the years - each one has a life and soul of its own in my opinion. It's songs like 'Still Falls...' that show original talent and artistic form. |

Definitely one of the most beautiful, and expressive, and powerful ballads I've ever heard. Marian put all his soul into performing "Still falls the rain"...and it sounds so true to life, like history of Alphaville, the story of the long and exciting neverending journey through time and space we all are taking part in...I love this song.

I totally agree. Marian does indeed put his whole heart and soul into this song. It does very much remind me of the journey of Alphaville - to me it kind of represents the end of one course and the beginning of another. It is now my favourite Alphaville song (for the time being...) |

I LOVE Still Falls the Rain, it is one of my favorite CS tracks, even if I am a little particular to the live version we heard in Salt Lake, April 2001. While my recording of that show isn't the greatest, hearing Still Falls the Rain as Marian sang it that night just takes my breath away, I picture myself straining to see him through the crowd, balancing on a cement block, and I could hardly breath, the song was so beautiful. That song remains my favorite from that concert, and when Marian was singing, I was somehow taken aback by the emotion present and the feeling of joy and wonder, to be part of something so amazing, knowing Alphaville.
Sound strange? Probably... |

No Mags, not strange at all. I'd love to hear it done live, especially after seeing how Marian threw himself into OTB in Belgium.
I loved OTB, but I'm sure 'Still Falls...' would take my breath away and leave me speechless...and it takes a lot to do that, believe me... |

I remember when I heard this song the first time.
It was a live acustic version, being one of those unreleased tracks some years ago and it was soooo coool listening to a song noone else had heard back then. I loved it and couldn´t wait getting a studioversion of the song. And with CS, that version came. And I still love it. And outside, the rain is still falling...*hm* |

I think the unplugged version is much better than the one on CS.
Take care |
