I am assuming Heartbreak City is influenced by Robert W. Chambers' short story collection The King In Yellow about a *forbidden play which induces despair or madness in those who read it.
Here are some lines from the play. This section is known as Cassilda's song Along the shore the cloud waves break, The twin suns sink behind the lake, The shadows lengthen In Carcosa. Strange is the night where black stars rise, And strange moons circle through the skies, But stranger still is Lost Carcosa. Songs that the Hyades shall sing, Where flap the tatters of the King, Must die unheard in Dim Carcosa. Song of my soul, my voice is dead, Die thou, unsung, as tears unshed Shall dry and die in Lost Carcosa. |

"The new Alphaville single “Heartbreak City” is out today. The chorus is classic Alphaville, the rest is… not"

True the chorus and verses are different but this was also the case on A Victory of Love!

I just realized I've been listening to Heartbreak City on the loop for the last half an hour... so I guess I like it. :)

I've been humming it on the loop and played it at work this morning on You Tube, so I guess I like it too.

Hello all! I have a question for Alphaville Fans in the U.S.
I apologize if this has already been asked and answered - I'm new to this site.
I have been a lifelong Alphaville fan and absolutely love their music. I was fortunate to see Alphaville in my hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah in 1999. I am afraid they will never come back here. I have noticed with this upcoming release of "Strange Attractor", there are not a lot of opportunities for us in America to download the new song "Heartbreak City" or even pre-order the new album. Does anybody have any tips on how to do this? I tried pre-ordering the new album via Amazon.de but my credit card was denied because it was not issued in Germany. Will the album eventually be released in the U.S? Thanks in advance! |

According to Claudia the album will be released in the US (at least the digital version) a few weeks later.

Of course there will be a physical CD of the album. In fact you can pre order it right now from amazon.de.
As regards a physical cd of the single...probably not. Very few people buy CD singles. |
