I could be "wrong, so wrong" (sorry for a-ha reference) though. The more tracks the better of course. |

I could go a step further and say I find it hard to get excited about a single release of a song we've been hearing since 2004 (although it is a cool song and I do like it). For those not part of the AV community, they could get excited about it. For we, who have known about this song and supposed releases for the last 6 years, the only thing to really get exicted about is the possibility of Alphaville becoming mainstream again. Will that happen? I can't see it but it would be mega if it did.

And as noted, the single may very well feature a track that we haven't heard before. The following album certainly will. |

Isn't it traditional to release a single a while before the CD/LP. To get people enthused and to give them a taster. Who is going to buy both at the same time? Doesn't it defeat the object of having a single at all?

a-ha had a soft release in the UK with Analogue in November 2005. The first single over there (Celice was the first in the rest of Europe), Analogue (All I Want), wasn't released until January 23rd. The single was a hit, but the album probably could have charted higher if it hadn't had that soft release, which meant all fans bought before it was known to the wider audience. Still, it did peak at #24 on the album chart, far better than the previous Lifelines album (#67) which didn't have a soft release, but was instead released much later in the UK compared to the rest of Europe. |
