I don't think CROG is less MG solo than CS.
And I was actually talking about the spirit of Carry Your Flag: MG and the whole song sounds pretty relaxed and laid back. The most CROG songs sound rather like pressure to me: As if they were done quickly to achieve success at any cost. (A couple of years ago there was one of the Still-no-release-notes on moonbase with the consolating words "We don't want to make it quick and dirty." Quite ironic, isn't it?) I am not defending CS or too many guitars instead of synths etc.. I could have been talking on Salvation the same, cos that is also a very elaborated and relaxedly sung album: You simply hear that the singer knows exactly what he does at every 1/1000 second. On CROG there are not such subtleties. Раз, два, три - Это верно ты! |

Well, CROG is much more synth-based which I asked Marian for years after Salvation, CS sounds much like Marians experiments online, with various productions and music styles without a coherent sound, CROG is coherent, it's pop yes, and that's what I love about it, for me Alphaville has always been about pop music, if I want to be depressed sitting in corner of the room listening to deep songs about suicide, I listen to Pink Floyd The Wall or something similar....not AV

I would not mind more of the singles on "Gravitation Breakdown" because it is one of the favorite songs on the album, but as I said - I do not see more than singles "Call Me"

@wii: AV is pop to me as well. And CS offered much pop too (Ways, Still Falls The Rain, Moongirl etc.).
But CROG is bad pop to me. Too simple, too bubblegum, too chatting-up, too cheap. That's it. Раз, два, три - Это верно ты! |

I agree with JaJaJa and haven't voted (because I can't bring myself to care which song Alphaville use to make a disinterested mass market notice them). I do care about Alphaville though which is why I would say the best songs are The Deep and CYF but not the CROG version. As for the synths v guitar question, I don't care. I care what works for the song.

I also think it will be "Call Me"... IDFYT, SFNO and CM are the only ones that have a distinctive "personality" (not counting MH or CYF).
