Strange Attractor - New Album
I can't seem to find anything else about the upcoming album, so let's start a discussion. Marian tells us the new album will be released next year already and he already has a lot of new material. This is super exciting, hopefully this album will contain some really nice songs, hopefully deeper songs than the songs on CROG.
|
Apparently the new album will be rich than GROG. That there is only one A Handful Of Darkness...
P.S.: In general, talk about a new album early. Finished material is of course (after all, something scheduled for release on CROG) |
Nice idea, Avil! [beer]
No one here will be surprised I like the idea to conjecture on the new album, for it certainly will be much, much more better than CROG... [smile2][smile2] |
Next Alphaville album for 2012: "Strange Attractor"
Interview with Marian: He says they are in the studio up to 15 hours a day working on the new album which is going to be "very different from any Alphaville album before" (whatever that is supposed to mean, but it's probably good because it means no more retro [wink]). He also says the (working) title is "Strange Attractor" which also was the title of an album in the 90s which was never released and of which some songs can be found on Prostitute, United and Dreamscapes. Marian says 2012 is the scheduled release, but we all know this may well turn out to be premature. However, title and sound-description (albeit enigmatic) certainly sound intriguing enough!
Here's the German interview |

Sounds interesting, and by that I mean, CAN HARDLY WAIT!

btw, has "little moon for psychopaths" been mentioned before, actually? |

Yeah...I remember that I have seen the layout somewhere....
|
whatever batterbee's intention was by copying it. or quoting it. or imitating it. or satirizing it. or tributing to it. who knows ...

nope, never was.... come on, what's the true part, and the fancy one ? [smoke] |

as i already said:, it wasn't me who created the cover, i received it from batterbee (and i really like it). by the way, i absolutely enjoy the fact that someone came up with the beach boys artwork. there's so much to discover in the images (many of them are rather visual messages) on alphavilleforever.tumblr.com, i was already complaining about the absence of analytical approaches amongst the fans. that was something i loved so much back in the 90s when i ran the moonbase website. |
Let me reword my question [smoke]
As the text for LMFP is credited MG, I assume he wrote it. On the playlist some of the songs are known : - title only (ex : Temple Girl) - title+lyrics only (ex : London Sky) - title+lyrics+music (ex : Around The Universe) Some other are unknown (ex : Mr Nevermore, LMFP). My question is on that part : how comes you know such songs ? [?] |
exactly like i said: the cover art aswell as the record label(s) in this series of graphics have been created by edmund batterbee. i just combined them with the rest of the artwork to finalize the concept.
afaik a few more tracks, like "black hole door", for instance, have also been mentioned before. personally, i am missing "questions of happiness", which is one of my personal favourites. LMFP, for instance, is a wonderful little track marian wrote last year (i think), and - of course - he provided me with the lyrics. |
you forget:
- title+lyric+music: Handful of darkness |
What about Temple Girl ? was it a real working studio track, or just a title you used on your own to illustrate Moonbase ? ( I still have the caption, yes yes :) )
|
maybe i didn't get the question right - but i never did any illustrations on moonbase since 2004.
|
stroke of midnite also exists.

ah, recognized it. sibelius is a composing software. but i didn't create that illustration. maybe claudia or alex do know anything about it.
|
I took another look at that "retro cover" and had to laugh about "Over the Hills and Far Away." Somehow, the thought of MG covering a Led Zeppelin tune (though that probably wouldn't be the case) got a chuckle out of me.
Don't know if he'd ever really do that one, though. |

so it seems that quite a lot of songs from the tracklist do obviously exist. what do we learn from that?
|
Well, no certainties so far because I suspect you keep some information but, your next challenge is to tease us about Temple Girl...surprise us :)
|
well. there's more coming up. more graphics, more secrets. keep analyzing!

i already do. |
btw, remixing reality does not mean to be un-realistic.
:) |
It would be a real pity if Gallery wasn't on the next album (as the cover-phantasy suggests)...but then, with strange attractors you just never know where the trajectories are headed...
|
yeah, i'd lov to have gallery there, too ...
