What do you think about the LHC ?

what's your opinion about the LHC (large hadrons colliser)?
For the people who don't know what it is: It's the biggest particule accelerator
who has been made in service in september in switzerland.
Dangerous or not?

Krapplund 08 Nov 2008 18:08

I don't think it will be any danger for us....

No big bang will happend...not that will destroy the earth....

But i donīt know that mutch about it [wink]

MalilaM 08 Nov 2008 18:30

What exactly should it make it dangerous?

manu 08 Nov 2008 18:39

For the moment it is stop because there was a anomalious in the turbine system
they stop it 10 days after is opening.
But some scientists say that when it comes at it's maximum overdrive,
it can entertaining earthquake,or worst it can make a big black hole.
you can see a video projection on you tube.
search LHC.

CERN LHC and Black Holes : Fact or Fiction?

Kaz 08 Nov 2008 18:51

I don't know what to think because I don't know that much about it, I don't know who to believe and I'm not a scientist and don't know that much that could help me make up my own mind.

Whatever will be, will be.

Mateusz 08 Nov 2008 19:42

end of world, okey.. i have nothing against, why not...

Well, Iīve seen Star Trek - I know what can happen with a wormhole, do I believe in it in real life ? Not a chance...[laugh]

I have seen those supposed warnings, but none have a real foundation on any physical equations or even anything that sounds logic from the things we were taught in highschool.

it suppose to be 1 chance on 50 millions that becomes a disaster
well that's an infinite probability, but in our history don't we take care
about the mistakes from the past.
remember the nuclear test on US soldier in New mexico
and later Hiroshima,Nagasaki and the post effect
on the humans who were exposed at the radiation.
or the nuclear accident from three miles island
or tchernobyl ? those accidents happenned even it was not possible
before it happens they said don't care it's not dangerous.
