Pink Floyd

Hellllllllloooooo !!!!!!
How could it be that no one said a word about this eternal band till now ?!?
THE WALL (parts 1-3), HEY YOU, HIGH HOPES, ANIMALS........
All those moody and dark songs that you just cant ignore !
I once thought that they were scary (must be because i saw THE WALL when i was too young for it....) but lately my best friend and i discovered them and while i cant drive without my "AV COLLECTIONS" she got a few FLOYDs in her car
A person might not like PF's style but you just cant ignore their talent and history !

Whenever i listen to HIGH HOPES (and i do it a lot....) its like i see the world from PF's eyes....
Its like a dream but very different from the utopian AV dream
The melody is heavenly !!!

Oh I love Pink Floyd! Especially their albums from the 70'. I consider PF to be one of the most original bands ever. They have taken rock musik to the next level, and they have a very uniqe sound. My favorite song is "A sourceful of secrets" from the album; "Ummagumma".

take a look at this beautiful piece of art :

High Hopes / Pink Floyd (Division Bell)

Beyond the horizon
Of the place we lived when we were young
In a world of magnets and miracles
Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary
The ringing of the division bell had begun

Along the Long Road and on down the Causeway
Do they still meet there by the Cut?

There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps
Running before time took our dreams away
Leaving the myriad small creatures
Trying to tie us to the ground
To a life consumed by slow decay

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
With friends surrounded
The night of wonder

Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide

At a higher altitude with flag unfurled
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world

Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
There's a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon
Though down this road we've been so many times

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing
The endless river

Forever and ever

........FOREVER AND EVER, ha

Yes. Great music! Roger Waters is in South Africa next year at the end of Feb. I can't wait to go to the concert.

At last someone has started a Pink Floyd topic, easily the most important band of the 70s.Their influence is stamped all over electronic music.''On The Run'' has all the elements of ''Autobahn'' but was recorded 2 years earlier (and not so tiresome),the idea of the light bulb suit used on the cover of the Delicate Sound Of Thunder album was also used in Depeche Mode's Barrel Of A Gun video, the second Pink Floyd album was called ''A Saucerful Of Secrets''(1968) anyone whos heard ''Summer Rain'' will know where im going with this and dont forget the Orb's grand gesture with the sleeve of the ''Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld''album, theres loads more but it would take all night.
I too will be seeing Roger Waters next year, cant wait and Dave Gilmour's doing some shows in London in january.Im really looking forward to these shows as ive been to some pretty sisapointing ones this year.
If theres any other Pink Floyd Lunatics in the forum who have any bootleg concerts to trade you can find my list here:-

i dont have much video stuff and desperately need more but i do have a few audio shows and am after any that i havent got,i do have a couple more bits to add when i finish sorting everything out.

My fave Floyd album has to be ''The Wall'' i spose, ive seen the film over 300 times and have warn out a few copies of it in the process (thank god for DVD now),but the thing i remember most about the album is it being the first album that i ever used to listen to and do nothing from the moment i put it on to the moment it finished,id just lie on my bed for nearly an hour an a half listening to this record only moving to turn it over, trying to work out the storyline and imagine the characters, the film ruined that a bit but i still thought it was superb and what can you say about Gerald Scarfe's animation, the mans a genius.

Hey.
I have a question. Its a technical question but it has to do with PINK FLOYD (somehow...).
Well, i want to order the new DVD by Roger Waters : IN THE FLESH.
The DVD's format is ZONE 1 - ENCODED and basically it is played only in US and Canada.
Now, my DVD player is a PIONEER 535 (i know that a few people here has that model) and it suppose to play both NTSC and PAL.
I think that my DVD can play this new CD.
Just like the AV LIVE DVD is in NTSC format....
Can anyone tell if im right....?
Thanks.

Little America is region 0 which is playable everywhere. To watch a region 1 DVD you need a DVD player that can play region 1. As far as I know all DVD players can play both NTSC and PAL, itīs just a question of regions. And if your DVD player doesnīt support region 1 then you canīt play region 1 DVDīs.
You need to have a chip installed in order to play them.
