well, one thing is for sure... it isn't about a cute doggie that saves little timmy from falling in the well!

I think the song is about dealing with loss, or feeling lost. "Lassie" is symbolic for a person you've lost in your life, and you want that person to "come home". Or a period in your life where everything seemed more simple and happy, and you want that time to "come home".

I'd say that it's about a humanbeing who feels kinda lost in him/herself and wants to win back his/her sanity that that person lost in some childhood-crisis or something. A person who wants to win back his/her selfconfidence, and step into the real world. So "Lassie" would be the lost soul of a poor humanbeing that eagerly tries to find her way back home...

Or maybe is it just as simple as the person wants to get back to the safety he/she had when she was young, when she was a child.

Lassie is about loneliness, coldness and seperation from yourself and people you love and the redemptive force of love, phantasy and hope.
Write more about that tomorrow.

Marian once said that LCH is about lost souls trying to found their way home.
Marian has always loved dogs... He think of them as a very powerful and myserious creature.
"Just think of how itīs spelled backwards..." , he says on www.alphaville.de

well, knowing what the song is about doesn't make the song sound any better... and personally, after listening to everyone's interpretation..... it isn't any clearer to me what the song is really about....

Just an observation...... don't take it personally Micki!

Lassie Come Home is really a mysterious song and one of the most spiritual theyīve ever recorded. I really love it. And I really believe that is about lost souls... And Russharvey, I donīt think that our interpretations has made the song any worse.

And just as a PS, I hate when Bernhard takes away the 2 minutes intro!!!

Bernd has explained why he took the intro away. You know, itīs a new version of a song, and he thought that if u wanted the long intro u just turn on the albumversion or something. It wonīt dissapear just because he shorted it down!

I usually don't like any new versions or arrangements on AV's old songs, they were all perfect from the very beginnig...but not all of them ofcourse...

Yes, of course the old versions always will be there, but it still wonīt make me feel any better of the "FP" version of "LCH".

But in general I think itīs quite "funny" with new versions of old songs, even if I donīt usually like it very much. Itīs very hard to beat the original...

many times the original is better just because you are use to that version. But if you heard a song for the first time, loves it,and then finds out that itīs only a remix... of course you want to hear the original version then, but many times u just think itīs boring.

only if the remix is good...... some remixes suck really big time!

yes, thatīs true. But itīs always better to hear a liveversion first. If u like it u should listen to the original version, then u LOVE it!

Always when I listend to a remix-version of a song I get this urge to hear the original version... Always.
Itīs like you realize how good the song actually is when you hear a remix of it.

When it comes to listend to the live-version first, I can say that I love "Cosmopolitian" even though Iīve never heard the original.

yeah, well that happened to me when I listened to an extended version of Howard Jonesī "New Song"...but I like the both versions a lot...I can't decide which one I like more...the extended one has got better sounds and it's longer ...but the original is so cool in a different way...
