Hope your move goes well, and your lights stay on. What part of California? I used to live a few places there.
S.M.I2.L.E! It makes people wonder what you're up to.
Alright all, I am back...all is good, moving in quite nicely and all..Still a wee rugged by the trip but at least I got to see the U.S. very amazing that is..I had Alphaville and Atlantic Popes to keep me company thankfully Heh!!! To all that wished me luck I thank you very much, didn't think anyone would respond to me moving at all..but you did and that made me feel good :)..Since I got Atlantic Popes the day that i left I didn't get to hear it till I got on the bus..So I will be putting a review in soon when I get over this tiredness I have now..
Love you all,
Thanks Avil..
Okay all so I am going from Va to Ca and one of the stops I have to make is a 2 hour lay over in where???? SLC!!!!!!!! I was stoked as Sh**...I saw a Mexican restaurant and thought to meself "Self, Maybe that's where Mr. Gold ate?" I walked down the street wondering, Did Mr. Gold walk here? Am I walking where me hero walked??? I was pretty exhilerated to say the least, Okay So I am a complete wally and I have just proven it!!! Oh well..I like me this way! HaHa!!

Hey Trent !
Finally made it to California !
Thats great !!!
So how is the sun there? :)
Mexican restaurant... he he he <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
Take care mate !
@ville - forever and ever.
I would love to come to California, the closest Iīve been is Utah, and that was boring, but I have been to Florida (Miami, Key West) that was fabulous. The beaches are so nice, completely white sand, and lots of palmtrees.

Chico's not too far from Berkeley and San Francisco....
I've lived both of those places. They have to be experienced....
Berkeley: good place to eat if you like spicy is the Blue Nile, on Telegraph avenue. Ethiopian food.
Too many pizza shops.
San Francisco: just about anywhere. There's a place in Golden Gate park, a large hill in the middle of Stow Lake, called Strawberry hill. Bring music, a blanket, and enjoy the view on a clear day.
Trent:Thanx...so maybe Iīll come...*hehe*
Major: Cape Town, heh?*loL*

Well...now itīs reality..
Iīm moving...
Not from town, not even from my neighbourhood, but maybe 300-500 meters away from my house now.
Mum have decided that we should move from the house we have now, and move to a new apartment. Itīs a really nice apartment, but I donīt want to!!!!!!
She has already signed the contract, so I guess there is nothing to do about it.
Itīs all because of the divorce between my parents...I hate this!!!!!!!!!
I wished you all could have seen my house now, itīs really wonderful, I love it!
Dreams canīt last forever...
Trentie...I guess you and Tor have to build up your tent somewhere else when you come here...I wonīt have any garden in the future...=(

i know what its like..my mom and dad moved apart for a year,so we moved to a apartment in town..i could never had made it alone with dad,he would have been so bitter at mom and then taken it over me..but now theyre back together again, even if they dont love eachother..they are more like..brother and sister after a 23 years long relationship..i think it was good living in the apartment, and i knew they would move together again..it was at this time i discovered AV,so if we wouldnt have moved i would probably not have discovered this great band!!and ofcourse it was nice to have a brake from all strange stuff going on in our house, but thats another story that doesnt belong here:)
cheer up Avil!!

Well, now I just came to think about asking you guys how many times you've moved.
I've moved about 10 times during my 15-year old life, and I gotta say that I still haven't got enough...I'm one of those people who can't possibly stay too long in one place...and I wanna move away and explore things you know, see the world...and I hate living in Finland.
"the Child of the new Season"
Well in the last 4 years...I've moved 7 times LoL...that's just the last 4 years...won't go into the rest of me life
"When I close my eyes, I see my soul...When I open them, I see yours"...

Iīve only moved 7 times in all of my life, and I donīt like it much. I love arranging where all our stuff shall be placed, but I hate all the packing and unpacking of stuff like kitchenware, CDīs and books!

/Defender-The Watcher Of The Scene
She said it was because of what I thought.
But I donīt believe in that, because the man on the bankoffice said it wasnīt such a good investment to buy this apartment (even though itīs modern and new and good and everything)He said that it was pretty much money for that, and u could spend it on a decent house instead.

well, I thought it was too good to be true.

Very true Clare and thank you! The bad thing is driving a moving truck from CA to Illinois with 2 cats and a bird! we did it once, 6 years ago, and we can do it again!
Does not sound like fun. 6 years ago I was in a van with all my worldly possessions coming up to Scotland. I had a suitcase on my knee the whole journey. Looking back it seems like an adventure but I do remember parts were not fun at the time.
thats very interesting! that does sound like a journey. how long did it take you to move?
The journey was over 12 hours. Partly due to Glencoe (a narrow road with steep montains either side) being closed due to an accident. We had to detour via Oban which added an extra two hours onto the journey. Nearly had to stop overnight. My mother was sandwiched into a middle seat that's normally not used as it isn't comfortable with 3 in the front.
Fun part was stopping at Gretna Services to eat sandwiches that I'd made with some garlic cheese and buying chips to add to them. Delicious.
Oh gosh, Thats a long trip. That doesn't sound like fun. I always liked stopping for food though. that must have been tough
Big events can seem so much better when they're done. I remember it as an adventure now. Making a new life for myself.. Back then it was stressful.

((((Nicole)))) Sorry to hear that. Hope all goes well with the move.
I remember my move to Germany in 2004 like it was yesterday and it still hurts. I left my son (then 12) standing on the platform at Carlisle train station as I took the train to Liverpool John Lennon airport with one very large suitcase and a backpack (that was all I took with me) and flew to Köln Bonn airport and then took two trains to Altenahr, where my other half was working and living in a hotel room and where I stayed for almost a year. I came over to Germany not knowing if I had a secure job, with no place of my own to live in and not knowing when I would get one. The job fell through but it all worked out in the end. I've since had two places of my own to live in and three jobs and my son comes over in holidays and it's got easier. Yes, it has been a huge adventure and it's still going on.
You'll be fine Nicole, I'm sure of it!
im so sorry. that had to be the hardest thing you have ever done. i cant even imagine what you went through....thank you for the confidence!
Keep us updated as things happen Nicole. I know you'll get through this move, however hard it seems and one day you'll be online telling someone else all about it to help them.

That trip sounds tempting, Clare. [drink] There's a lot of Single Malt in it. [smile2]
Yeah but the single malt drinker (my dad) was driving. Now that my parents live in Glencoe it would've been much harder. We'd have had to have stopped somewhere. I was in Oban two days ago, but the pubs are better in Glencoe (Clachaig) and Fort William (Grog and Gruel).

Reminds me' of when I had to move from my parents to live in London as it was the only way I could get work experience. I never realised it was the day I would leave home for good. I lived in a pub in a tiny room overlooking the Thames. It was the right thing because I landed my dream job and my future husband walked into the pub one day! Funny how things work out - I can only think in your case Nicole it is all happening for a reason so I hope it is going OK so far for you. C x
Thank you all for your moving stories! I guess Im not the only one that has had a hard move. And Colette, I agree. Everything happens for a reason and we will all find out one day! Im almost completely done with packing, which is good. But between my mom, sister and I, we have a lot of stuff! Hopefully my mom got a big enough truck! my Uncle is also going to fly in from Illinois to help us, so Im more relieved!

Big life changes like this are always difficult to come to terms with Nicole. There's no getting away from that. Of course you are worried and that's perfectly normal. But think about it - once it's over, you will look back and think how well you survived it, how you came through and you will realise how something like this makes you stronger.
I hope you feel easier soon and wish you good luck and a safe journey. (((Nicole)))
Thank you Richani. Karen, thank you so much. That does make me feel better. I worry myself to death and later on I wonder why I even worried. I do that all the time.
Nicole, I'm a worrier too, I know how you feel. You'll find ways to stay in contact with people. It's so much easier now with internet and e-mail. It won't be long before you'll be at the point where you're living your own life and you'll maybe move again, by choice (college or whatever). It'll seem so much easier after thiss.
Hope it all runs smoothly and you're able to get back here soon.

So in less than a week I'll be leaving Mexico City. I'm not very happy yet about the change, because I love the place where I live now, but I'm trying to stay positive and like my new home.
In the meantime I'm so horribly tired from dusting and packing about twenty boxes of books (and haven't finished even half of them all), many bags of clothes and shoes, house ornaments... Tomorrow it's going to be another part of the books, house appliances, dishes and stuff like that.
I'll need some holidays after this. [boggled]
Aww good luck with everything!! Keep staying positive! You might not like leaving now, but once you get adjusted and all unpacked you will like your new place. It's just the process in between is whats annoying. I have moved so many times and I have adjusted to all the places I have moved to. You will be fine! So where are you moving to?

Good luck Malila. Hope everything goes smoothly and you soon begin to feel at home again.
Good luck with that Malila! I'm also in the middle of packing up, sorting out paperwork and trying to find someone to take over my apartment so I don't have to redecorate it. Sitting here surrounded by boxes and I've not even really started yet. What makes it worse is the fact that I'm leaving the country and so there is a lot more paperwork to do than would be if I were just changing flats here or moving to another German town. *breathe*

Mexico City has been my home for a long time and the area where I live now is a wonderful place. I'm not moving away because I wanted to, but things got complicated, so I had to choose a destination that would offer most of the things I have now here.
But certainly I will adapt well soon and I'll be fine. The new city is really beautiful and very proud of its colonial heritage, it has good universities, a big market for the kind of work I do, and I think I will move around easily very soon... and I'll have a garden!! [smile2]
Aww great! I know what you mean. Sometimes we have to do things we don't want to, but there is a reason for everything. Good luck!!

So I finally have access to my PC! [bouncy]
Moving has been nightmarish, since the washing machine got broken and I had to buy a new one, there is something wrong with the water heater, many things have to be installed and built and my credit cards are all exhausted. I hope I can manage to have it all settled soon.
I'm still surrounded by a million boxes of books and unknown objects, but the bedroom, the kitchen and (finally!) my home office are starting to look like rooms. [smile2]
Things can only improve from now on. [clover]
Good luck for you. Moving is always a big and expensive challenge.
My last move was 10 years ago, and was also with heaps of boxes (indeed, we had yet more than 3000 books.)

Moving with many books is a nightmare (and I know what I'm talking about even if I never managed to count them all)!
But it sounds as if you're improving, Malila.
Welcome to your new home with a garden! [beer]

@Ana: Thank you! The garden still looks sad because I haven't had the time to take care of it, but as soon as everything is settled, I'll turn to its embellishment. [bouncy]
I bet you know what it is to have lots of books. [smile2] I don't dare trying to count books and I lost count of boxes at 70, but I bought several more.
New improvement though: I can cook, even if I have to eat on a small auxiliary table, because dining furniture is still buried under boxes. [smile2]

Two months and a half and home is still pretty much like a disaster zone. [boggled]
Dining furniture hasn't been installed yet and there are still many book boxes all over.
I think I will have to spend a couple of days off-work to finish giving the shape of a house to all this mess... if only I weren't so tired I might be able to spend a couple of hours each day until this were all done. [watching]
Working while trying to get your home comfortable is always difficult. I hope you can take time off and not wear yourself out.
It always takes long to have a nice home, after moving. Try to care for yourself too.

Thank you. I think I will just drop things for a while until I can actually get used to all this new stuff. I was supposed to enjoy it, not to suffer it. [laugh]
Exactly! Eventually you'll have time and energy but sometimes we can make ourselves ill looking for perfection.
I have all that to come...
Good luck with everything! Before you know it, all of that mess will be gone!

@Clare: Absolutely.
@Kaz: Good luck with it!! I guess it's going to be tougher than my own "rehoming".
@Nicole: It will be. Thank you! =)

Thank you all.
@Ana: Oh no, there's no TV around me ever. But I had been eating on a small kitchen table barely big enough to hold the plate and a glass of water. [laugh]

But that's cool! It gives you the feeling of vacation because it's like eating on a plane. [smile2]

I feel so civilised now! [bouncy]
[laugh]
Yey!! [smile]good for you!!
I'll be on my way in two weeks. Still have to find a place to live yet....
What happened to the villa you were looking at Kaz? No good?
The one we wanted near the school has gone already. The other one is amazing but too far outside the city. Back to square one.
Oh well, something will turn up.
Daniel is over there now looking at a few properties. We should know something by tomorrow afternoon.
Lot of things are done in very short time, when one need to move. Good luck.

Good luck with your house hunt, Kaz. Moving has been a long and exhausting process for me.
...Still, I have almost finished my home office the exact way I want it! [bouncy]
Good luck everyone!! New beginnings! Very exciting!
We've found somewhere! All being well, D is signing the contract tomorrow. [smile]
Great ! All is turning fine for you !
Congratulations!!! I'm so happy for you!
Today, I deregistered. As of 19th July, after 10 years here and having permanent residence status, I will no longer be a resident of Germany. Two more sleeps and then it's Big Loading Day. Staying in a hotel on the night of 19th and then it's Big Driving Day on the 20th. We should arrive on the evening of the 21st. Staying in a hotel until our stuff arrives (probably late 22nd/early 23rd), and then it'll be Big Unloading Day.
Thank god I've still got just over a month until I start work.
