Prince
Dear AV-Freaks!
I had to realize that until now there obviously seemed to be no demand for a topic dedicated to one of the greatest artists of the last millenium. I am curious, who of you shares my passion for his music. Further there are - believe it or not - a lot of similarities between Prince and AV, that we badly need to discuss (it will take us to the wonderful world of musical and social philosophy): - both were/are giants, trendsetting also concerning electronic music Maybe it sounds banal (if you donīt use that attributes carefully): they both always developed radically, looking for new horizons. They belong to the minimal number of unmistakable artists - Prince was also "unhappily married" with Warner for a long time. Since he has total control on his work, he manages almost exclusively distribution via internet, which is a symptome, if you consider the others, who followed or did it that way before plus the complaining record companies nowadays - Very productive, 4CD-boxes are "very unrare" - Prince doesnīt take part in the usual music- business PR-games anymore (I can only talk about Europe) - Thereīs still a huge potential on success (think of the sales of the last (Warner-) Greatest Hits-Compilation, standing ovations at one of his seldom TV-performances in germany 3 years ago (that kind of enthusiasm is not usual here) Now, whatīs your opinion ? |

I donīt really have anything with Prince. He surely is a great songwriter and performer, itīs just not my kind of music really. I much rather listen to Michael Jackson, if I need some screams in the verses
My favorite Prince song is probably "Purple Rain". |

I don't have much of Prince, only the cd's '1999', 'Diamonds & Pearls" and the cd with that sign (O(+>) and a single cd of '1999'.
On the cd with that sign (O(+>) I really like the song '7' You can do just what you wanna You can kill or you can die Be a beggar or a princess But you'll never lose your style Ephemere - Fallen Angel |

Nor am I into Prince's music, to tell you the truth, though I respect him as a great songwriter and performer. I can say the same as the others said before me: there are songs I like from Prince, like "Purple Rain", "Only Doves Cry", "1999" and don't forget about the unique soundtracks he wrote for "Batman" [batman]

Never really liked Prince, although I respect him for his talent and uniqueness. Not my cup of tea really.

I never compaired Prince with a cup of tea, personally I see him more as a 'Duvel'...
Not one of my most beloved singers, great talents yes, but not 100% my style. You can do just what you wanna You can kill or you can die Be a beggar or a princess But you'll never lose your style Ephemere - Fallen Angel |

I never thought Prince was a great musician, but I've listened more carefully to some of his material... I don't think I will become the biggest fan, but indeed, I like a lot more of what is in there than I first thought...
I only had to overcome the screams, high heels and laces Justus, I still fail to see many AV/Prince similarities... |
