Why English?
Alphaville haven't charted in the UK (or US, for that matter) since the 1980s.
So why do the band continue to release lyrics in English? ps. Anyone know the last time the band toured England (if ever)? |

They've never played live in the UK. It's not for want of UK fans trying.
As for the language, I think Marian just prefers it. ....it was them what drove me to drink!" [drunk] Grandad, Only Fools and Horses (UK sitcom) |

Well in that case, perhaps we should try and make it happen.
(Though I've often wondered if I'm the only person here in Blighty who's aware of the band). Has anyone ever enquired to see whether the band would consider performing a private gig? |

Clare and I spent most of 2003 trying to make a UK gig happen to no avail. So, not for want of trying.

Maybe English as opposed to German because more people in other countries are likely to speak English to some degree along with their native language? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@Kaz. I'm guessing this may be a little easier to arrange in 2018 than 2003 with the band being less well known/popular these days. Is there any interest in looking at this project again? Are there many of us UK-based fans?
@Amber: That'd make perfect sense, though I've assumed in the past that the lyrics were written in Deutsche then translated (as a lot of them are a little 'unusual' in English). |
