After a long time, today i was able to walk in a normal record- store in Hamburg to buy a new Alphaville CD....cooool!
No e- mails to salt lake city, no searching in the internet, that was a strange- good feeling. I like two songs most: Jerusalem (listen to the little change in melody in the chorus....i love that) and Victory of Love....and the hidden track!...Jerusalem again...

I must say I am pleasantly surprised by this album! My favorites so far are Summer Rain, Jerusalem, Summer in Berlin, Big in Japan (Stremburg Mix) and of course Forever Young!!

The music for the Eiffel 65 remix of Big in Japan is better than the first time I heard it. Imagine this song, with a decent voice, it would be GREAT!

I´m not impressed by Forever Pop. Some of the remixes are ok. Like "Summer Rain" and "Lassie come Home", but as usual, the original releases are much better! In any case, I´m glad to see Forever Pop in most recordstore in Copenhagen under news - that´s good for Alphaville.

I too am not impressed. The remix reflects the current sound of the dance scene, and I don't like the current dance scene. I think the album would have been better, if it was released just a few years earlier.

Maybe we would have been better off if Bernd just did all the remixes himself.

I'm not saying it's bad. It's just not that interresting either.

I´m quite satisfied with the album. Well some of the songs are quite boring, but most songs are very good, have a nice beat!

And yes, I was very happy when I saw FP in the stores in Copenhagen...muahahahah!

I saw Forever Pop in a record store here in Göteborg, Sweden. However, I think they just imported the cd, because I haven't seen it nowhere else.

I'm also not very impressed by Forever Pop. I think some of the remixes are good, but most of them are quite boring. My favs:
• Big In Japan (Eiffel 65 - oh yes!)
• Romeos
•*Red Rose
and the fast part of SLAM.

I hate Bernhard's mix of Lassie come Home. The mix doesn't add anything to the song. It just destroyes the melody and the feeling! The Jet Set is another non-fav, just as A Victory of Love.


The HIDDEN TRACK sounded familiar in the beginning when I first heard it. They have actually stealed it from De/Vision's song "Re-Invent Yourself" from their album "Void". That album was in fact produced by Georg Kaleve, who made the Jerusalem remix! So I don't think Alphaville made the hidden track at all...

Lassie come home sounded very beautiful when I first heard it on the FY 2001 single, but when I heard the whole one, it wasn´t that good anymore, it became too much of the good.
I still like that specific part though.

i've really seen Forever Pop on tape. I don't know maybe it sells on tapes here because it's quite expensive on cd... Maybe there was some agreement about it... I don't know.

Very COOL album !!!
Its great to hear the AV sound by other DJ's.
Some of them did a fantastic job, such as : FY, DWM, ROMEOS (excellent!!!), JERUSALEM (very nice melody!), LASSIE (by the greatest...), SLAM, AVOL and BIJ by Eiffel 65 of course !

I´m not that impressed by this album, actually i´m pretty dissapointed. Where is the edge? Where is the possitive surprises? In my oppinion this album only gets two (2) "magnus" out of five (5).

The immortal 80's band, Alphaville, is releasing a new CD featuring the best DJ's in the world !

Take the band who released one of the best 80's hits, add to it some of the best new millennium DJ's and you will get a project
that must be successful !
This is, more or less, the story behind FOREVER POP - the new CD by Alphaville.
On one hand you have the German band who hit the world with BIG IN JAPAN in 1984, and on the other hand you get big electronical DJ's like POUL VAN DYK who entered the studio and covered those fantastic songs who ruled the clubs before the DJ's became gods......
This interesting album is a very good opportunity to give Alphaville (a German band who insisted to record in English) another chance to prove themselves.
Many people know them for their biggest 1984 summer hit : BIG IN JAPAN but this band is also responsible for other great songs like : FOREVER YOUNG, DANCE WITH ME, SOUNDS LIKE A MELODY and even a beautiful song called JERUSALEM !
Alphaville arrived to Israel 2 years ago for one concert.
It was a great comeback for the Israeli fans who were there and even knew all the lyrics by heart !
Marian Gold appeared as a very sympatic guy who hates to think about his band as "another 80's band"........
Even though Alphaville never succeeded to create another hit like BIG IN JAPAN they didnt stop recording for a second.
They even released a large collection with new songs called THE ANTHOLOGY.
The new album is good for Alphaville's reputation - the new, young crowd might like this new sound by their favorite DJ's.
It is a great combination between the classic hits from the 80's and today's music style.
By the way, BIJ got 2 cover versions on this album ;
The 1st one is just OK but the 2nd (by the band EIFFEL 65 - "Blue") is a pretty wild thing !!!

I've only heard those short clips from those songs, and I still have to say that I don't think they were any special, exept for the remix of SLAM, which I just LOVED!! I listened to it for like twenty times before I could even leave the site <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>...and then back the next day <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>...

I was very lucky to get a hold of FP when it was new. A nearby record store dealt with imports and could only bring in special order CDs as long as they don't cost more than $30. I just barely lucked out! And I was very impressed with most of it.

Best track: Jerusalem, the listed version, although the hidden version of it is done beautifully as well.

What did you think of the Eiffel 65 mix of BiJ? It's a good song, but I didn't really go for the electronic choppy voice they used.
