I love the lyrics to Sounds Like A Melody! To me, they paint a picture of a couple dancing, holding eachother close... a soft warm, intimate moment! And her laughter... it rings to him like a melody.....

I love the lyrics to DANCE WITH ME- " In a lover's heaven, we'l keep our promises at last, in a lover's heaven, we'll forget the past"- but I did read somewhere that the story in the video is not actually romantic- unfortunately, I haven't seen it <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

I have the video of 'Dance With Me' on VHS tape, but I just don't watch it because I am afraid that the tape gets cutted or something... I've got a slow version of Wishful Thinking on tape. I recorded it with a little help of my video recorder and my little TV. It is an acoustic version, I think some of you might know it, AV played it in 1996 in Berlin on a party before Christmas.
And I must say that it is really an emotional song.

Oh yeah, absolutely wonderful. I´ve heard it a few times live, the first time at the party in Berlin in January 1999, that was fantastic! I never expected to hear DWM unplugged, but the lyrics and the way Marian sings it, is ... well, romantic !

For me the most romantic song is definitely The End. It has the most strong lyrics and for me there are so many different meanings in it. The way Marian sings it is just marvelous, especially the high parts. His voice stumbles between strong and convinced and very fragile.
The best line is Death the lover, come embrace me. It also reminds me to a line of a song by Chinchilla Green: Morphius embrace me ...

Wishful thinking is kind of a "painfull love song". It´s really , really strong. But romatic? It´s a good discussion...

According to me the most romantic AV songs is:
1. Sounds Like A Melody (The LYRICS, the feeling of the whole song is just phantastic!)
2. Dance With Me (This one... <img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle>)
3. Flame ("now you came and change the wheather, now I wanna live forever"<img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle>)
4. Carol Masters (Has a phantastic romatic atmosphere, even though the song itself maybe is not so much about love...)

Yes, of course "Wishful Thinking" is a lovesong!!! But it´s a painful one!! And having sucha longing, pain and heartache for someone, that you wishes she/he were dead is NOT a romantic feeling. Believe me, I´ve been there, and I guess so have you.
And think... When you are in that moment, There is nothing romantic about it at all... Just a terrible agony and pain which is hard to explain for someone who hasn´t experienced it. It´s like your world stops, and you become paralyzed and the only thing left in your "life" is a big black neverending hole to hell were Satan is calling you with a big smile and the only wish you have is to visit him forever.
THAT´S PAIN!! And you can fall so badly, that you indeed wishes the death of the person. And I think this terrible feeling and agony is what "Wishful Thinking" is all about.
And, in my oppinion, that´s not very romantic.

Hmm... I don´t think it has anything to do with hate, even though the helpless agony can make you feel as if you hate this person because of what she/he is putting you through. But it´s all about love and got nothing to do with hate, only obsession.
`Cause if it was about hate, you wouldn´t have this heartache in the first place.

But for the discussion... It´s really hard to define "hate". It´s a very strong word. And I don´t think that you could hate somebody whom you feel so much love for, as in "Wishful Thinking".
However, you can feel strong disdain for the person, just for rejecting you. But that has nothing to do with this person, just your own hurted feelings.

But let´s say that he/she really has been evil to you, and really treated you badly. Just for the fun of it. Than you could talk about hate. But I don´t think that´s the case in "Wishful Thinking".

Well, if you love somebody you hate this person at times too... Every relationship has hate in them too, so actually every relationship is kind of a hate-love relationship, if not right in the beginnig, after the right amount of time...so..?

Yes... you can FEEL hate for that person you love, momentarely. But, in my oppinion that doesn´t mean that you actually HATE the person. You hate something he/she has done to you. I also think that when you are deep in love it´s easy to confuse your emotions and feelings, and that to can contribute to feelings of hate without actually hating the person in question.
