Now that we know what the two first singles are, which should be the 3rd single, if they decide to offer another single from the album ?

I think Call Me [wink]

Definitely Call Me.
It is clear from the quotations from moonbase.
And I think that just these 3 tracks are suitable for single embodiment. Other tracks I can not imagine a single.
(We still have to live to Call Me - suddenly no longer be two singles)

This is a tough one ...

I chose The Things I didn't do. I agree that the chances of Call me getting the third single are bigger but I'd prefer The Things...

Heaven on Earth might be suitable as well. As I said: difficult choice.

It should be CYF - for the benefit of non AV fans who have not heard it before

For it will be call but in an other form that in the album version more like the demo version.
And if a four single can be relesaed i would choosen Heaven on Earth

I also hope for Call Me, would actually be my first choice for a single, imagine a good 12" version of this ?

Gravitation

It would be good 12 "version and I Die For You Today and Song For No One ... [smile2]

(...including the singles"I die for you today" "Song for no one" and "Call me when I make it" - from moonbase)

I voted for Call Me, since it's most propable and suitable. I would like to say phantoms, but that's not going to happen.

Song For No One as second promo single surprised us all, because never an Alphaville album opener song had been selected (yes yes : does Summer Rain count ?).
No doubts Call Me has the biggest remixing potential, but I have eventually voted Heaven On Earth. Just my intuition.

I'm sure it will be Call Me...

I also went with "Call Me," figuring it would be a single anyway, since there was the demo version of it on the deluxe CD, along with IDFYT.

same here....... just can't stand the lame chorus in call me and find that I like the demo version MUCH better.....

I think it will be "Call me" but I hope it will be "Heaven on earth"....

Carry Your Flag would be cool.

But not this Uuuh-uuuh-uuuhh background version. [bigmouth]

I voted for Heaven on earth because there's always a slow song that becomes a single for an Alphaville album and it should be as usual.
Call me must also be a single so I hope for four singles at the least.

Avalon

I must say that I voted for "The Deep" as the 3rd single, really beautiful song, and as Christian Garreau said: there's always a slow song that becomes a single for an Alphaville album and it should be as usual. And I agree, there should be an ballad single as the 3rd single, though in the past the ballad single was always released as the 2nd single exept on "Forever Young" were it was the 3rd single, and "Afternoons In Utopia" which did'nt get any ballad single release :(

@*a: Correct indeed. But the relaxed CS-spirit could be kept even in this version. And that would be better for an release than the CROG-spirit...

@ Jax3: You made a point ...

Most AV-spirit would be in Heaven on Earth but I doubt it'll be a single release.

Oh no, please no more Marian Gold solo stuff like CS...[bigmouth]

I don't think CROG is less MG solo than CS.
And I was actually talking about the spirit of Carry Your Flag: MG and the whole song sounds pretty relaxed and laid back. The most CROG songs sound rather like pressure to me: As if they were done
quickly to achieve success at any cost.
(A couple of years ago there was one of the Still-no-release-notes on moonbase with the consolating
words "We don't want to make it quick and dirty." Quite ironic, isn't it?)
I am not defending CS or too many guitars instead of synths etc.. I could have been talking on Salvation
the same, cos that is also a very elaborated and relaxedly sung album: You simply hear that the singer
knows exactly what he does at every 1/1000 second. On CROG there are not such subtleties.

wii
14 Jan 2011, 15:36
Well, CROG is much more synth-based which I asked Marian for years after Salvation, CS sounds much like Marians experiments online, with various productions and music styles without a coherent sound, CROG is coherent, it's pop yes, and that's what I love about it, for me Alphaville has always been about pop music, if I want to be depressed sitting in corner of the room listening to deep songs about suicide, I listen to Pink Floyd The Wall or something similar....not AV

I second that as well.

I would not mind more of the singles on "Gravitation Breakdown" because it is one of the favorite songs on the album, but as I said - I do not see more than singles "Call Me" [smile]

@wii: AV is pop to me as well. And CS offered much pop too (Ways, Still Falls The Rain, Moongirl etc.).
But CROG is bad pop to me. Too simple, too bubblegum, too chatting-up, too cheap. That's it.

I agree with JaJaJa and haven't voted (because I can't bring myself to care which song Alphaville use to make a disinterested mass market notice them). I do care about Alphaville though which is why I would say the best songs are The Deep and CYF but not the CROG version. As for the synths v guitar question, I don't care. I care what works for the song.

I also think it will be "Call Me"... IDFYT, SFNO and CM are the only ones that have a distinctive "personality" (not counting MH or CYF).

Song For No One as second promo single surprised us all, because never an Alphaville album opener song had been selected (yes yes : does Summer Rain count ?).

Well, if we equate with the single release order of The Breathtaking Blue album, the 3rd single would be "The Things I Didn't Do" [track #4 as for the mysteries of love; while #2 IDFYT->romeos & #1 SFNO->summer rain] and then no more release.. :)

even though it's my favorite track, this time i voted "Heaven on Earth" for the 3rd single.

I was a little disappointed when Song for noone was chosen as second single. Should have been Call me instead (in a version more like the demo version.) But for third single I think they need a slower piece so I voted "Heaven on earth"

Why isn't CYF on the vote list? I want to vote for it! (I guess it's because no one else may vote for it but you never know.......)
