My Review:
Dear Bernhard,
First of all i have to say that I LOVE the music in all the songs - I love the sound of a synthisizer weather its jumpy or quiet.
However, I dont really like all the songs. I usually fall in love with the songs that catches my ears when i first listen to a CD.
Great songs like : World, Ice, Games, Land, Freedom, Flying, Thats All.
I also like Dogs but i have a problem with the female backing vocals...
Speaking of backing vocals : I can hardly hear Marian's voice on Games......
Games is a great song! there is a part where Max sings: "left thinking right going back..." and it really sounds like a game!
very nice !!!
There are 2 songs that sounds a little like AV songs to me :
We've already talked about the intro of Flying (sounds like Astral body. i was very flattered that you were impressed by me :-)).
The other song is Freedom - I find the intro just a bit similar to Afternoons in utopia. Im probably wrong though... :-)
I dont hate the other songs: Living, Skin and more... I just dont feel connected to these songs when i listen to them.
But as i said before - the music is great !!!!!!
I think that Max's voice is great for these songs. It was hard to get used to it at first but now i love it as it is.
The 2 songs in French are pretty cool. I know a bit French and its very nice to listen to Max when he sings them.
I have to tell you once again how much i LOVE World, Thats All and Flying !!!
World is absolutly perfect - a great combination between the lyrics and the music !!!
Thats all is beautiful. sweet and quiet melody with very tender words. Fantastic !!!
Flying is a great song for dancing!!! Very energetic !
In a scale of 5 i give the first AP album : 4.2 (just a bit above 4...)

Ok ok "The Greatest Bernd" Here's what I think mate..Mr. Hollers voice is cool as hell..It is re-listenable..HAHA Is that a bloody word..Well I said it anyway, Only one thing I was disappointed in.."Games" =( (Can't hear Mr Gold in this song all that well..I had to listen a couple times and still wonder if that's him I am hearing or me mind playing tricks on me) I was not really disappointed in the fact that I could not hear Mr. Gold but that the girl in the next song was REALLY audible, I felt like Well...Damn why is she allowed to be heard and they are hiding Mr. Golds voice in this? I would have rathered Mr. Gold not been on the cd than me not be able to hear him..I don't know about anyone else but "Games" at the begining reminded me Of "One Step Behind You" I could be completely insane though...Ok enough griping about that one...Loved ICE!!!!!! Very cool synths and there is a part where it really sounds like Ice if Ice made a sound..it's that cool (as in cold) sound...You guys captured that great..."World" Is fantabulous..That's what we all want to say but just sit on our thumbs and never actually say it..Good song...In a whole I loved the cd..the synths are incredible..Mr. Hollers voice is exceptional..and the songs are edible brain candy for me brain..I love the way "Freedom" starts out...Reminds me of the begining of a movie, and the music is major uplifting kind of pride like music..Like a national anthem..Perfect for this song..(Favs, "World", "Ice", "Land" "Freedom", "Flying" "That's All" Ok ok ok ok,..I liked the whole bloody cd...You all know I can never pick a fav of anything, me mind changes too much upon moods..Thanks for the great brain candy "The greatest Bernd" I trully appreciate it

Ok yeah I can pick a fav.."Ice" Is definately me fav on this cd...I have listened to it over and over again...Not only is the vocals great and synths amazing..the words touch me a bit..they remind me of me...I used to be a cold person..And this reminds me of when I changed into a more caring man..and let the inside romantisism out without worrying about being ostersized for being a whimpy man...Screw the people that think a romantic man is a whimp..I have broken the ice inside me and am a better man for that in me opinion..so yeah, Ice is me fav

I have just received "The Popes" CD today, and I already have a clear favourite (I will cast my vote on "The Popes" website shortly).

"That´s all" is so good! I also like "Flying" and "World" very much. In general the music on the album is really great, but it will take some time for me to get used to the deep voice of Max Holler.

Well, I don´t feel like neutral, because first time I heard "Atlantic Popes" was in my hotel at the hamburg-party...
Too many nice memories...!!!!
I would never combine any voices, because music is music and so, this is just a new experience like every new album...
I like "Ice" and "That´s All" most -
I really hate "Freedom" - for me it sounds like "Traumschiff" (german Soap wit James Last music)
Bernhard, it was great to have you in our hotel for this night! We changed name from "AquaSport" to "AlphaSport"

Alright! I got the CD in the mail yesterday - and needless to say, I'm really impressed!

Mind you, I have only heard the album 4 times thorough, so I still have a lot of listening to do but right now the songs that stand out are World, Ice, Games, Land and Freedom.

I can understand why everyone really likes Ice - it's quite intricate, there is a lot going on and it's got a nice etheral feel.

I also like the fact that there are a lot of upbeat dance songs - the album really makes you want to dance. (seeing I make it a practice to go out every saturday night and dance for 4 straight hours this quite appeals to me..heh)

I really don't mind Max's voice actually. I was all afraid after hearing so many say how they didn't like his voice. It really suits the songs. In fact he's quite a good singer!
I think too many people are neglecting Land though : ) It's real glossy, I quite like it. And although many love That's All, I didn't really find it as great. But that just shows how diverse all our tastes are.

In all, I'm more then glad I ordered it! Thanks Bernhard! (and send thanks to Max for me : Þ)

I love AP Max has a great voice, almost lullaby -ish-?
The synths are amazing, of course the man playing them is the best, so I had no doubts the music would astound me
I have fallen asleep to this cd many times it is so soothing to me and yet when I don't want to sleep I can boogie on down to it in the living room while I pick up the house
My favs are World, Freedom, Flying and Ice

I think that its more about feeling connected to the song than like it or not...
I love the music on each and every song from the 1st AP CD but from some reason i dont feel connected to part of them...

Adi I think that ALL of us have certain connections to songs, that's why we love them and listen to them...to feel this connection, I know there are a few songs that even I break down and cry to...We all have our own connections..and then there are the songs we don't connect to at all, those the ones we use that ever so handy fastforward button on aye??? HeH!

Hmmm... I think now it's time for me to say what I really think about AP album besides exclamations... though they're showing quite well what I feel!
I waited to hear it for so long that now I'm very very glad I have it. And I see how much I've missed... Songs like World, Games (with Marian's voice - I hear it!), Dogs, Freedom, Ice, That's all were really worth to wait for!!! They're simly perfect! And the others that I didn't count are good too. Yo-ho-ho! I have it!!!
