Have any of you heard the 3 solo albums from Morten Harket? I think they are great. There are 1 english and 2 norwegian albums. They are very different from A-ha, specially the norwegian albums, but his voice is so wonderful, that they are worth every penny. If "Wild Seed" (his english album) was an A-ha album, it would have been the best...in my opinion.

I just found Morten Harket performing Paul Simons "Bridge over trouble water" - it´s amazingly good, Morten sings it very well, but the quality is not so good - if anyone wants it, send me a PM.

There are some really great songs on "Wild seed", for example "Los Angeles" and the earlier mentioned "Spanish steps". The single "Some kind of Christmas card" is though something I really don´t like. I would place this album as number 6 in rank if I compare to the A-ha albums and the Savoy albums.
The Norwegian albums are also nice, but not that good. The album "Vogts villa" is the best of these and includes 2-3 really nice songs.
I prefer all of the Savoy albums (Pål Waaktaar "solo") to these two Norwegian Harket albums.

Some snippets from 'Letter From Egypt':

If I would choose three favourite tracks from Morten it could be A Kind Of Christmas Card, Half In Love Half In Hate and Jeg Kjenner Ingen Fremtid.

'Poetens Evangelium' kind of sucks, I think. I love every track on 'Wild Seed', it's a masterpiece. 'Vogts Villa' has some really great tracks but not quite as solid as 'Wild Seed'.

There are two other Morten Harket songs that are excellent but not any of his albums.

Can't take my eyes off you - Cone Heads soundtrack
Heaven's not for Saints - CD Single

Yes, his cover of Can't Take My Eyes Off You is great.
I think his voice is a little bit too high-pitched in Heaven's Not For Saints which is still good but not among his strongest tracks, I think.

If I would list my three favourite non-album tracks then it would be the above-mentioned track, Jungle Of Beliefs and the Junoon duet Piya.

"Lightning" is indeed a great song. It proves that he is still the best singer in the world (sorry Marian...).

There's an expressiveness, a kind of freedom in the way he's singing, that's very refreshing. It sounds very smooth - Melodyne maybe??? Either way it sounds ilke he's having fun with the song.

Either way, he has a gorgeous voice. Much as I like a raw sound live, in the studio I really prefer to hear polish and shine[bigeyes] I really hope to catch him in Brussels, but only time will tell.

Some hours ago I returned from Düsseldorf/Köln after a great weekend with Rolandk watching Morten Harket live. Morten was (as usual) singing very impressive through the whole concert and the choice of songs was really in line with our taste. Seven songs from the new (and very great album) were played - the fast ones. Three songs from his first album were also played, a.o. my two favourites from it ("Los Angeles" and "Spanish steps"). The rest were A-ha-songs. Funny that his daugther thought he sings "Burn mummy burn" instead of "Burn money burn" in the opening song (btw new lyrics written by Morten to the Kent-song "Kärleken väntar"). Also very funny that he forgot a line in the lyrics of the last song, "Take on me"... Anyway, those of you who have the chance to see him live, take it! And buy the album, his very best one so far!!!
