You know, when I first heard the line "Big yellow cadillac carry me back home" I on some level really understood it, but I could never actually tell anyone what it means. What do y'all think it means? Is it a spaceship? The sun? or simply a big yellow cadillac?

He he he ... good one, Avihai
He probably noticed that when he was there but he cant change the lyrics now...

Marian and I had an "argument" about the meaning of the line : "watching river's waves go by..."
THERE ARE NO RIVERS IN JERUSALEM !!!
There is one (or maybe more?) outside of the city but it is well known that there are no rivers in Jerusalem.
As a matter of fact, it is an Israeli joke to say : im going to swim in Jerusalem

Actually I dont think "Jerusalem" is really about Jerusalem. I think he uses Jerusalem as a metaphor for place that is sacret. A destination for salvation. Like a higher stage reached in a love relationship.

I too think Jerusalem is a symbol in this song, but even if he was really singing about the physical Jerusalem, my impression is that he was elsewhere watching rivers waves go by and wishing he was in Jerusalem, be it a spiritualor a physical place.

Marian sings : To Israel With Love / Big In Tel Aviv / Summer In Haifa .

Marian should write a song about Copenhagen!

Why create a one minute. long track containing nothing but silence??

Why?
I've never visited Copenhagen but i know that its a beautiful city.
Marian visited Jerusalem almost 14 years after the song has been released.
He liked the city but not as much as he liked Tel-Aviv...
Jerusalem is... what can i say? i think that its one of those places that you visit once and you say: "been there, done that".
unlike Tel-Aviv(or any other cool city in Europe) where you can always party !!!
