I visited the website, listened to the songs and watched the graphics. About the music: there are certainly 6 great songs on it. (I mean arrangement + composition + lyrics). The AV- influences are very obvious and I like that. Only one obstacle: The voice, this makes me doubt if I'll buy it or not, but I certainly don't like the vocals.

A short remark, to what you said so far:
While I was working on this project, I never came to the idea to compare the voices of Marian and Max. They are very different indeed. For me it´s a question of taste, not a question of quality. They are both fantastic in their range. And i´m happy that I could and can work with these 2 singers.
I would be glad to here more critics.

By the way, the sound samples on www.atlantipopes.de are of very low soundquality, but we decided to give you fast excess to the music...
Soundqualitywise I consider this production,
the best I´ve done so far.

It´s not that easy to explain, honestly.
We would like to preach the opposite of what THE pope is preaching. Freedom, Fun, ALL kinds of Love, Respect....and all the positive things in life YOU have in mind.
When Max and me met at the atlantic coast, we talked about that for hours and days...
Everybody is a pope!
What did you think when you heard the name for the first time?

I promise to give more detailed comments on the Atlantic Popes Cd. When I say that I don't like the voice, I take in consideration that the soundquality is poor due to the Internet. (It's just a taste I guess) At the moment it's difficult to find the time for it as I want to finish the second Delphia CD in March,and I'm working on 3 songs at the same time in the studio (One of them is a FY- cover). By the way Bernd, which song of the Atlantic Popes will be on the &quot;shadow dancing 2&quot; CD from ADD? Mine will be 'To love you'.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>,

Nice songs from the album:
World: about freedom I guess
Ice : Just beautiful poetry
Talktalk: Great atmosphere!
Skin: A typical AV- ballad
That's all: A masterpiece!

The other songs are a little bit old fashioned. (The &quot;I've heard before but better syndrom&quot;)

In general the lyrics come from deep inside and are very poetical and dreamy, allmost religious, But I wouldn't compare it with the ideas of the pope.

hmm..what did i think when i first heard the name &quot;Atlantic Popes?&quot; well, it seemed a very mysterious name. The Atlantic, the ocean, always symbolizing to me spirituality, connection with both earth and spirit. Popes, meaning mastery of the spiritual world. So I guess being the captain of your own soul and spiritual life. Not easy to put into words. An interesting thing to think about!

i went to check the atlantic pope site..it was great..i dont know..im kind of ashamed of being some stupid in some places..like when i visited your site i didnt get anything.i clicked one of those things to the left..like &quot;ice&quot; for example..the thing is that i didnt see that &quot;song loading&quot; under the nice graphics.but then i pushed cd and saw all the names of the songs and i felt so embarrassed for myself when i realized that i've started to load a song.
anyway,i think its a great project and a great site.the only bad thing lies in me and it is that i havent got a wordcard:((

oh,one more thing:thanx for making the synthchords so easy in forever young (when you first made the song)so even a bad one in keyboard playing as i can play them...without that me and some mates wouldnt be able to play it on a school concert this summer:))

Quite a while ago, someone on the e-mail list mentioned that the chords to Forever Young seemed reminiscent of Pachelbel's Canon. I wonder if it was the inspiration to Forever Young.

Well,well,well...

I got this eargerly awaited cd from the from Hot stuff (a bloody good service like usually).
And hmmm Bernd,i just can say honestly that i like AP...good job,good lyrics,good music.

I first thought about that: An Av project with another singer!!! No,no,no...it is different,it's damn good and i want to listen to it again and again...and again.
Maybe the only negative point of my comment,is that sometimes,Max is just singing the same way with his low voice,and trying to go in the highest tone,but that is a different voice From Marian...and so i respect that.
Good to hear some Av used melodies at the end of the cd,and HOOOO!!!! the french translation of Love and Ice is pretty funny (as i'm french...).
So finally i want to say that This first album from The Popes is quite good,and it can only be better in the futur.

Thanks again Bernd for another good piece of creamy cake...

@Av-defender: It´s a relief that you understand my cruel kind of humor...it´s not meant like that....and I hardly know the feeling of being bored.<img src=icon_smile_clown.gif border=0 align=middle>
@alpha-x: "That´s all" - that´s a long story as you can imagine. Max and me wrote the song
including lyrics
in France in 1991 in a quiet emotional mood...we recorded a demo without vocals just as a reminder....and nearly forgot about it. I discovered it again in 1998 while Marian and me were going through all the tapes we got while we were working on Dreamscapes. We liked the cute instrumental version...and just took it like it was. Later on I could convince Max to do a real production of the song. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
