A short and simple poll.

I votes yes, even though I donīt buy as many as in the past.

I only buy music for download when I need a single song or two, or if the CD is very hard to get, and is available at iTunes.

I don't buy that many CDs either anymore, but I guess it could only go 1 way [wink]
I bought at least 1 CD every week in the late 80s/early 90s but since then I haven't liked much of the new music so I have mainly been buying 80s CDs that I didn't have in my collection or new remastered versions of great 80s albums. I only buy 1 or 2 new albums a year now I think and 3-4 old CDs a month. And then I also still buy vinyl....almost only 12" singles from the 80s.

I still buy CD's. Not as often as in the old days though. There's still is a big difference in wav and mp3 quality.

Yes of course I still buy CDs!
I'm very old-fashioned, I want to have something in my hands: a cover, coverartwork, a booklet with all the texts (!) und a little silver disc I can take with me wherever I go.

^ I agree with you. There's just something about holding the Real Deal in your hands...

And for me, I look for different things on CD most of the time. Sure, there's the occasional mainstream I'll find, be it for myself or someone in the family, but usually, if there's something new or unusual that I'm familiar with and just gotta have, you know I'm going for it!

Of course I do! a) ripping / illegal downloading is evil, b) I just don't like mp3s...if you have a really good audio system, the sound is inferior and also c) music has deserved better worhsip than being buried amongst a million other tracks, invisible on some external hard drive.
Mp3s are a nice complement to discover new music, store backup copies, easy exchange etc. but for me it will never replace material quality sound carriers.

simply Yes. It's nice feeling, when you put disc to player for listen and I love to own good music as material discs, not only bits.

I voted yes, but only from a few bands, I don't buy any cds "just to test" anymore.

cd? what is that? I agree with Jonatan. I only buy cds from certain bands or if I find a band that I really really like....... other than that, I don't buy many cds anymore although I have way too many of them in boxes in my closet at the moment.

1. No mp3s!
2. Brandnew CDs only if I'm totally curious about a new album of an artist I really adore (and that's rare.)
3. Other CDs from time to time if the price is a bit lower.
4. Rare CDs also via 2nd hand.
5. Still Vinyl! New and 2nd hand!
6. I really have a lot of stuff, my friends too. So I don't have to buy that much anymore, because
although releases increase, music generally doesn't improve nowadays.

Yeah, I still buy CDs. However, there isn't much for me to buy since I'm very... picky when it comes to music. ;)
