andreas: since the days of yazoo i like your work a lot and since some time i was asking myself already what you were doing. i'm glad to read that next year your new album will be released. what will it sound like? i'm very curious.
Alison: It is quite an eclectic mix, with songs ranging from ambient to chansons. It is without doubt an album I should have made long ago.
UpstateNY: Dear Alison....will you be singing in NY anytime soon?
Alison: I will most definitely be singing in NY. I'm not sure about the timeframe, but I am hoping for the Summer.
wiggy: Any pre-tour warm up gigs planned ?
Alison: I will be doing as much as I can before the womb prolapses. Again, no details, but soon.
jason: Alison, A few years ago it was rumoired that you may go into acting, would this be something you would consider?
Alison: My dream job has always been voice-overs. In confident moments I feel unassailable, but book the date and the bottle goes! I think that I could act but probably only for childrens programmes.
david: any favourite gigs youve done througout your carrer
Alison: The acoustic gigs that i have done have been my favourites because I prefer to be autonomous. I have always had a good time in America because the expectations there are different and I am not expected to be a popster. I usually do enjoy the singing - if I look like I'm enjoying myself, then I usually am.
Caroline: When will you be back on german stages ?
Alison: I have always had a lot of support in Germany; it is a very important territory for me, so I should imagine a visit to Germany will be one of the earlier ones.
Dan-Chicago: Alison, was the chat your idea or did Debbie make you do it? (hello debbie!)
Alison: Believe it or not, it was MY idea, prompted by the fact that I have condemned my laptop to hell, and was feeling bad about not posting on my site.
Dan-Chicago: When you say ambient...are there a lot of synths and things?
Alison: Some synths, but it ended up being more played than we expected. I probably mean it's emotive and it breathes.
Jean: Alison,do you always write your own lyrics? Or do you ever collaborate with other writers/use others'words?
Alison: I mostly do write my own lyrics. It is very rare that I would collaborate with another lyricist. I find language needs to be personal. The one time I like to sing other people's lyrics is when I want to concentrate on a voice alone, and then I try not to get hung up on semantics.

Alison: Yes - Hometime.

I also have their new Greates Hits (you know - with these strange mixes at the end) and still ask myself this question: Why 'Happy people' didn't make it to this album??? It's probably their best song. And I know many people who like Yazoo and also have such an opinion on this song.

I borrowed their cd "best of", and fell in love, I liked nearly all the songs, and Yazoo is now among my all time fave bands, "Midnight", "Don't Go" and "Winter Kills" are just a few of the songs that I love from them, and the funny thing is that just earlier the day I listened to it the first time, I was listening to the radio, and I heard this brilliant song with a catchy synthesizer melody and a crunchy beat, which I had heard several times before, but I didn't know who it was performing it, and then, ten minutes later as I put on the Yazoo-cd, I heard this same god damn song, which was "Don't Go"!! *hehe*, speak about coincidences, aye...

Yazoo reunion for reissue albums and first live gig in 25 years

Mute is back in reissue mode as they plan to reissue both albums of the short-lived but highly successful English synthpop duo Yazoo (known as Yaz in the USA) consisting of Vince Clarke (Depeche Mode, Erasure, ...) and Genevieve Alison Moyet (otherwise known as Alf). Both 1982's "Upstairs at Eric's" and 1983's "You and Me Both" will be re-released next year, remastered and posibly in combination with a DVD attached though details are still missing. You can already check out the band's first official website hub at www.yazooinfo.com or at MySpace at www.myspace.com/yazooofficial . For the time being you can subscribe to the official Yazoo newsletter which will start early next year. According to British Channel 4's teletext the band would also plan a live gig to promote the re-releases. More news as we get it.

Would be nice if they released a DVD from this tour afterwards! I'm mostly an Erasure fan and I have honestly only heard their four singles even though I'd like to hear more. I like Don't Grow, Only Two and Nobody's Diarrhea quite a lot however not too fond of Situation (hm, couldn't come up with a funny name there).

I also thinks Only Two (Space: 1999 Mix) is one of the best re-works ever. The extra strings makes it quite superior to the original mix. I listen to that one very often actually.

Seriously, I don´t think that has ever been a band for me that I have looked forward to see live the most than Yazoo, at least not since I saw Alphaville live back in May 1996. I´m so excited that I had to plan my live around these events the next couple of days ! It really doesn´t get much bigger for me live ! This concert was even better than yesterday, I also stood much better this time and the sound is probably the best I have ever heard live, very clean and clear sound, and Alison's voice was amazing - I really hope to see them again live someday [wink]

Wow! The best concert I've ever seen! Yazoo was the first band I really loved and to get to see them live was a wonderful dream come true. I've never been so emotional during a concert before. When they opened up with Nobody's Diary I had to pinch myself to know it was really happening. I do admit it, my eyes turned a bit wet...There, in front of me, was Vince and Alison on the same stage and the year is 2008!

Hi there...yes this was amazing.....are they clipped bad? sometimes like in dont go it is a stop in the recording and most of the song get lost....And some of the videos starts a little bit in the song...I am glad for what i got of course..but if it is possible to get everything right i would me more than happy...I would of course pay to have it done better...:) And 9 songs i want all of course..:)
But hey this was so nice to look at...and alison moyet...she is a princess....

Well, according to the last time I checked the release date on Amazon.com, that box set I pre-ordered should be shipping for me tomorrow.

I love what Amazon does: When I pre-ordered In Your Room, it was priced at the time at $76, but the price dropped down to $56 since then, so that price would be adjusted in my order!

Yes i listened to Yaz, and my favourite is Only You because It reminds of AV's flame. Alison's voice is extremely emotional, and Clarke's melodies are superb. Great band.

Alison has a very powerful vocal range and a really cool dark sound to her voice, which matches the music perfectly (it really has to be heard live) and to make it even better, the sound at the concerts in Copenhagen was the best I have ever heard live ! "Don't Go" was my first favorite pop song because it was the favorite song of the boy I had a crush on (I guess he liked me too, so it was a reciprocal crush). I was 11 and he was 12 LOL. Oh the memories!! Thanks for the reminder[smile2]

Some time ago, I ordered the "In Your Room" box set, with both albums (original UK order), remixes and DVD. I just looked it up on Amazon. Their price is up to $80, probably more than twice what I paid (don't remember offhand what the original price was...)!
