View Full Version : Alphaville on tour in Norway 2007
Alphaville is going on a Norwegian Tour this summer 2007.
The norwegian TV-channel TV2 will arrange the tour.
Alphaville is the headliner on the tour, and will play 3-6 melodies pr show.
It will be arranged 16 concerts all ove Norway, and one date is already booked:
Wrightegaarden in Langesund, 18. of July.
More dates will be announced.
Alphaville will be on stage with Spandau Ballet, Katarina & The Waves, Ole I´Dole and Return.
Marian Gold was interwied in the tv-program "Gylne Tider", and it is the same guys that will be on the tour as well.

Only 3-6 melodies?? Than it just will be songs from the 80´s....
What a great idea...I guess only 80s songs as well, but that´s cool.
Publicity is publicity - if it does the job, doesn't matter what songs they play.
Yes, this is an 80is-tour, so AV will play Forever Young, Big In Japan, Sounds Like A Melody and Dance With Me. And maybe Jet Set.
Cool...but boring. Not very exciting...

The Tour is real, alright.
Waiting for the complete tourlist.
We will be a gang in Langesund 18. of July, that is for sure.
Nothing about it at Moonbase though.
The tour was presented in the newspaper Verdens Gand (VG) a week ago. And now I have got an e-mail from Erling in TV2 / Gylne Tider, and he confirmes the tour.
It will start in Langesund 18. of July as earlier announced. And yet 15 more concerts in Norway. The last concert is 4. of August.
But until it is confirmed on Moonbase, no-one knows for sure if Alphaville is appearing on it.
3-6 melodies per night on a 16 date tour... that's every musicians' dream... [head]
Håkan, Joachim and Fredrik Moonboy will be in Langesund 18. of july ;>>
It will be a great AV-vorspiel at Svein Erik Vatles residence ;>>

Moonbase has not confirmed this yet. Although I have been told that AV will appear on this tour, there is no confirmation of dates and this is why they are holding off announcing the tour.

Det kan bli stor folkefest i Wrightegaardhaven den 18. juli, når programleder Øyvind Mund, Ingar Thorsen og Steinar Marthinsen fra tv- og plate-suksessen «Gylne tider» innleder sin store sommerturné med mange kjente band og artister.
80-tallsrockerne Alphaville er blant dem som kommer. Det er i alle fall minst én person som ser fram til Alphavillekonserten med forventning.– Ja, jøss. Dette er helt fantastisk. Tenk å få Alphaville til Langesund, sier Svein Erik Vatle.Han legger til at Alphaville ikke har vært i Norge på flere år.
For de som lurer på hva Alphaville er kjent for kan vi nevne låter som «Forever young» og «Big in Japan».
På gjestelista til Mund & Co, kjent fra tv-programmet med samme navn på TV2, står også Tony Hadley fra bandet Spandau Ballet, Katrina Leskanich fra gruppa Katrina and The Waves, Ole I’Dole og Return.
Etter det PD kjenner til kommer programlederne fra Gylne Tider til å kjøre showet i noe av den samme stilen som karene har hatt på fjernsynsprogrammene i denne serien. Deltakerne på sommerturneen har også opptrådt i programmene. Showet i Langesund er premieren på en turné som skal ta alle deltaker innom 15 forskjellige byer og steder i Norge fram til siste spilledato, som er 4. august.

that's really strange I think. I'm planning to go, but I don't dare to buy any tickets until it's officially confirmed they'll really play.

Yes, AV played on So What in Oslo 17. and 18. of January 1999.
And in Bø in Telemark the day before the first gig in Oslo.

Suksessen «Gylne tider»
Øyvind, Steinar og Ingar har laget tre «Gylne tider»-serier på tv. I den første fant de tilbake til sine svenske idoler fra 70- og 80-tallet, deretter dro de land og strand rundt hjemme i Norge på samme oppdrag. Sist høst hadde de kjempesuksess med den tredje runden der de hadde hele verden som nedslagsfelt.
Serien hadde 623.000 seere i snitt med en andel på 42,6 prosent. Dette var nesten en fordobling i forhold til sesong 1 (326.000 seere i snitt).
I høst ha de også ut CD med musikk fra serien, og den har solgt over 60.000 eksemplarer. Gutta har tidligere mottatt tre Gullruten-priser for programmene sine, og den første serien ble også en suksess på SVT i Sverige.

That´s cool, but how long does every artist perform at these concerts ? I would love to see at least one show this summer in Norway.
2-4 songs pr artist.
I have tried to tell Norwegian TV2 that Alphaville should play at least 5 songs and Ole I´Dole and Return 1 song each.
Alphaville is the headliner on this show, so I expect them to play last.

I received an e-mail from Gylne Tider now. They will perform their new single "Sommer´n 84" on Gullruten on Norwegian TV2 tonight.
They will also perform the song on the tour in july.
Alphaville is the headliner and is on the top of the poster.
All the artist are playing live, no play-back at all.
That is good news, I think.
I think this will be a funny gig. I have also bought tickets for Tønsberg 19. of July and Sarpsborg 28. of July. Some of the "To Be Announced" dates will probably be shows in Oslo. I plann to go there also.
Gylne Tider won a title yesterday on "Gullruten." Their show about stars from the 80-is is the best tv-serie on norwegian tv-channels in 2006.
They also performed their new single "Sommer´n 84" - and it sounds ok. We will see and hear they perform it live in Langesund 18/7.
So I guess it will be really crowdy on this tour. These guys are very popular in Norway. They won "Gullruten" also in 2003, so they have lived in the 80-is 4-5 years now [smile]

Thursday: Vorspiel in my garden, then we go to Tønsberg and listen to AV at Slottsfjellet.

Last info about the concert in Langesund Wednesday 18. of July::::
Alphaville is the last band and will finish the show when they´re playing Forever Young..
Alphaville and Return has full band on stage.
Ole I´dole, Katarina & The Waves, Tony Hadley and Gylne Tider trio will have the same backingband. The same way as in Esbjerg I guess.
After each artist, Øyvind Mund and the guys from Gylne Tider will talk and sing and have som fun. They will use a bigscreen.
Each artist will perform 3 or 4 songs. TV2 will not tell which songs.
The concert will start at 21, so we have to finish the tacovorspiel early ;->
The show is about 120 minutes.

We had a nice day and evening in Langesund.
New Horizone members presented:
Maria, Håkan, Joachim, Krappinger, Fredrik, Patrik 04, Svein Erik, Heidi Vatle, Hilde Sørøy, Roger Sørøy and myself.
A wonderful taco-vorspiel in Bunesveien and the show was pretty cool.
But Alphaville was again the winner.
The played onlye 3 songs unfortunately: BIJ, SLAM, FY.
But it was so great. It was really crowdy and everybody was singing.
BUT Alphaville!!
Why can´t you guys give us a couple of minutes after the show so we can have som photos!!
Martin and Marian was running away, and we even got no chance to say hello to them.
That was a huge disapointment for all of us.
Nice to see that Jocke is still around - we miss him....

The show started 21.00.
The Gyldne Tider Trio was singing "Sommeren -84". Then Katarina sang "Walking On Sunshine." After her sang Ole I´Dole "Det vakke min skyld".
(Just one song each - that was ok).
Tony Hadley had a couple of uninteristing songs, before Return took their 3 uninteristing songs.
Katarina was singing a cover of Tracy Ullmann and also her Eurovision song from 96-97. Love Shine A Light ??
Then it was a tremendous medley with norwegian hits. That was popular. Mayby not for our swedish friends ??
Mattis Hætta was the surprise for the evening, when he had his "joik" Samiid Ædnan.
And suddenly it was time for Martin Lister & co. I can´t believe two hours was going so fast. And Martin was playing the intro for Big In Japan, and Langesund were theirs....
Alphaville was so much better than the other performances that evening. Our guys was ultra-good. So we were so happy all of us from NH.
I loved the show, and looking forward to be in Tønsberg today and sing again [smile]

3 songs. Big In Japan, Sounds Like A Melody and Forever Young.
I saw the show in Tønsberg last evening.
And it´s too bad AV can´t play more than 3 songs.
The audience is ready for more!!!
Yesterdays concert was so short, so AV playd the long versions of BIJ and SLAM. I loved that of course. In Langesund they were playing record-look-a-like versions, much shorter versions.
On SLAM yesterday Martin Lister left his keyboard (!!) and stood at the front on the stage and clapped his hands together. The crowd sent crazy again.
The way Alphaville act, I think they are in the same division as Pink Floyd, Madonna and Bruce Springsteen....
Maybe that is not truth, but I feel i can say that when I discover how much better Alphaville is compare to Katarina, Tony Hadley, Return.
And also compared to artist on other festivals Alphaville has had performed.
For instance compared to Bad Boys Blue, Belinda Carlisle, Paul Young, Howard Jones, Limahl, Midge Ure and soooo on.
I really hope Gyldne Tider / TV2 will discover Alphavilles potential and give them much more space. 5 songs. AVOL and Dance With Me as extras.
And it is too bad that all the artists on the show is going on stage when AV is singing Forever Young. That destroyes the beatufil ballade I think.
I will see some more concerts on Gyldne Tider Tour.
But I will send my opinion to TV2 first. Not that I think it will help, but I have to try... AV deserves it [smile] [smile] [wink]

I have to THANK everyone that was on the this event. Nice to meet the "old" gang (Jocke, Maria, Håkan) that I haven´t meet since 2004 in Berlin agein, and of course all the other great Alphaville fans that was there!!! Thanks to Svein-Erik for the hospitality and everything!!!
About the show: I think that everyone at the place hade a great time...everyone hade a singsong so all the artist on stage. In person I think the Alphaville was far the best...bud sadly they just performed 3 songs, that´s to few. And like Trond said they destroy Forever Young when all the other artist went on stage and did sing with Marian. But what can we do about that. It was a great evening, and the rain could´nt stop that!!
Sadly Alphaville did´nt hade the "time" to talk some words and make some photos with their fans. They have to know that we travelled far to listen to 3 songs and have a chance to chat some time with them. The houre was just 11.30 e.m. and I can´t think they was tirred after performing 3 songs. Sure they hade to be on stage the day after, but the place was only around 50 km away from Langesund so some time for the fans they could reserve...that´s I think it´s low!
Anyway the 3 days (Tuesday to Thursday) would I never missed for anything...it was soooo GREAT!! Thanks agein to everyone!!!!!!
And a rewiev will be made for this event and ready in around a week.
Alot´s of photos was made by diffrent people, so I hope we can some some great photos here (and than I don´t meen the stomach-pictures) for everyone. [wink][laugh][laugh]

I agree with you Peter. It was amazing to meet Joachim & co again. It was like "the old days". I enjoyed it sooooo much, the hours went too fast. I hope we are about to arrange a meeting like this not so far from now... [smile]
I have spoken to a friend in norway and she told me there will be some footage about the festival on tv tonight - but dont ask me when / where...
On TV2 tonight the TV-serie Gylne Tider will be on screen with the Marian Gold-interwiev, as we have seen before. I don´t think it is from the concert in Langesund, yet. I hope I am wrong of course.

The concert at Langesund was, best put, and more accurately, to the point. Geared towards the 80s. Alphaville performed three (3) whole songs from the past --- it was the highlight of the show --- everyone had a great time and most likely converted some new fans.
Everyone knew who they were and that is what counts. Maybe it´s a small blip on the Alphaville tour chart, but it meant a lot to those there and re-ignited an interest with a band that has had even myself wondering who the hell they are!
I look forward to the next Alphaville concert. Maybe it will enlighten my understanding of the full spectrum Alphaville offers. I hope so, because those three songs made me jump like I never have before.

Extra concert in Langesund Wednesday 1. of August!!
And AV will play also this time...!!
Maybe we can have the same party in Bunesveien again !!
Vorspiel at Heidis place this time!!
The concert on Wrightegaarden 18. of July, was sold out. That means 2200 people. The concert was so popular, that´s why it will become an extra concert.
Btw, in TA, the newspaper in Telemark/Langesund, the concert got a bad bad review... Especially Alphaville... The journalist did not like thel world move on, he could not recognize Alphaville´s versions from the Forever Young record in -84. And then he thought it was rubbish.
The owner of Wrightegaarden has another opinion about the concert.
So I am looking forward to 1. of August and the second concert.
Maybe we can get our photos of Martin and Marian this time ????

TV2 and Wrightegaarden confirms that Martin Lister will be on stage.
Before I buy tickets I will prefer to see the date confirmed on the tour list on Moonbase.

Yes - finally backstage again...
And I got a photo with our new drummer. Unf. Marian Gold was not there the moment I was, so I still miss him on my photos. But maybe sometime??
The Gylne Tider show in Røyken yesterday was a show almost as good as in Langesund July 18. The artist performed the same songs, but one different it was; Tony Hadley was singing A-ha/James Bond "The Living Daylights".
That was good for Tony, then he also could receive some applause!!
I enjoyed the show. The audience was maybe the youngest I have seen on the tour so far. Mostly "kids" in early 20-is. And Alphaville never got the crowd to be really crazy. They were enjoyning themselves, but no singing and applause.
Until Forever Young, of course.
After the show I had to quarrel ten minutes with the bodyguard to get an entrancepass to the backstage-area. But he had deaf ears.
The I was glad I saw Erling Arvola from TV2, so he let me in and snapped thoe photos for me.
A very enjoyable evening it was. So Langesund on wednesday (august 01) will be great!! Join us there!!

The norwegian success-duo "Avalanche" will do a comeback-event on Gylne Tider on Strømmen tonight !!!
Unfortunately it is only for this concert, so they are not playing in Langesund on wednesday.
Martin Lister is my favourite-artist.. Maybe you know that already ?? [bigmouth]
I got a quick chat with Martin in Røyken. He is a great musician. Thank God he is a member of our band!!!

I think Willy are on vacation right now and haven´t upload it yet...
At noon we start the vorspiel here in my garden. Then we go to Langesund for some drinks at Wrightegaarden, and then to BBQ party at Heidi Vatle. And so... At 2100 hours Gyldne Tider starting and we are going to dance for two hours.
Maybe Alphaville will play 4 songs this time .. ?? !!

We were in Langesund again yesterday, and that was my 4th concert on Gyldne Tider Tour 2007. Very crowdy again, that is amazing. Langesund is a "small village" - and even they have 2 full houses. So this was extra-concert.
Yesterday I knew what will come, and that was pretty cool!!
I start to enjoy and like all the artists actually (not Return....).
I have been a fan of Tony Hadley!! I like his british James Bond style, he always enter the stage with his wineglass in his hand, and say cheers to us. And he changes his suit/dress for every concert. Nice guy, really!!
And his voice is so good! On Living Daylights all in the audience was singing the lyrics. That was really great.
Alphaville got response again on this concert. In Røyken the audience was too young, but on yesterdays concert the people was +/- 40 years old. I think everyone in Alphaville was doing their best - it was very nice to be in Langesund [smile]
We had BBQ-vorspiel at Heidi Vatle and Morten, and maybe you also recognize Svein Erik Vatle, Hilde Sørøy and John Richard on the picture??

Well... The Norwegian Tour is over, the last concert was in Ålesund ond Color Line Stadium yesterday. Gyldne Tider / TV2 is talking about av new tour in 2008. Maybe with Kylie Minouge, Madonna, U2, Depeche Mode and Al Corley [wink] [laugh]
Well maybe not with those big stars, but we can hope...
More probably is The Kids, Carola, Johnny Logan, Nik Kershaw, Limahl ...... ??????

This picture was taken by Selveste Erling Arvola from TV2. I think you can recognize some of the New Horizone-members in front.
TV2 and the artists is satisfied and want another tour next year..
Tony Hadley told this was his best tour ever, and he had never been on at tour so well organized.
It will not be any DVD from this tour. Unfortunately the concert in Langesund was never taped. The concert in Sarpsborg 28. of July was taped, and that was one of the most successfull concerts on the tour.
Maybe it will be 30-45 minutes of the show on TV2, but not any descision has been made yet.
The guys from Gylne Tider would love to work with new projects about the 80-is, but nothing has been decided yet.
If there will be another tour, we will know about it before christmas-time.

Anyway, I haven't said anything about the Langesund concert yet. And yes, it was great. Alphaville only played three songs, but they did that very well. Besides, I loved the three "Gylne Tider-gutta". Their Sommer'n '84 was great and I did buy a CD on my way back with this song on it. It really does contain the line "Forever Young". And Tony Hadley did a good job too. All in all, nice people and great music. What more can you ask for. And Trond, I loved our little Men At Work evening...
