I've only heard one Rammstein song, but I thought it was pretty good.. Definitely for those "hard" moments.

The future exists, first in Imagination, then in Will, then in Reality.

Yeah Avil, everyone I know hates them
<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>! Don't know, why.
I love Rammstein like I love Alphaville, I think that is really strange *lol*.

I have to admit, I don't own an album by them but some of their songs I don't mind. I found out about them when they did a cover of Depeche Mode's Stripped (which I think is one of the few decent covers ever done of a dm song) I got the single and video to Stripped and I really love those (it has remixes by Charlie Clouser of Nine Inch Nails!) One day I'll pick up an album. Which one is best?

Hmm, hard question. I would say that their best album is 'Sehnsucht'. I love every song on it. But if you want more lyrics with more violence, then take 'Herzeleid'...

I also like 'Mutter' very much, but I don't like it that the lyrics became so... hm... non-violent.... That's not a good way....

The DM cover 'Stripped' is the only Rammstein song that is in English. So it is something special for me.

I have Herzeleid, it´s a very good album to get started with, but as McMorloc said, Sehnsucht is good too.

-I love you dangerously-

Mrs.Picard
11 Aug 2001, 09:08
Well, 'Herzeleid' was Rammstein's first album, but nobody was interested in it. But then somehow everybody wanted to listen to 'Engel', so everybody bought 'Sehnsucht' and then they realized that there has been another album before, so they bought it, too. I was one of those people <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

12 Aug 2001, 21:37
I heard Herzelied first, so I bought that album. But I don´t have Sehnsucht...=/

Listened to Mutter for a while now, really good!! I´m so into Spieluhrat the moment, a great song!

-I love you dangerously-

Mrs.Picard
13 Aug 2001, 09:52
Yeah, 'Spieluhr' is one of the best songs on 'Mutter'. How do you like the title track, 'Mutter'?? It is my favourite.

What's your fave song from 'Herzeleid', Avil?

Oh, you HAVE to hear 'Sehnsucht' <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> I'll show it to you if you ever come to my place <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

13 Aug 2001, 12:12
I think Mutter is really good, but that song scares me, I don´t know why.
I don´t like the way he sings "muuutter..."
Something about that song...

From Herzelied...Hm...I like Wollt ihr das bett in flammen sehen, Der Meister, Ache zu asche and Du riechst so gut. Teeerrific songs!

I´ve heard Engel from Sehnsuch, but nothing more...

-I love you dangerously-

Mrs.Picard
14 Aug 2001, 10:23
Oh, yeah, 'Mutter' is very scary. But I like that, all Rammstein songs are scary <img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>

'Engel' is also very good, it was in the German top ten, don't know when that was....

'Asche zu Asche' is also one of my faves. I like the whole 'Herzeleid' album. What about 'Heirate Mich'?

http://redrival.com/wii/germany.gif<h6>*It doesn't matter*</h6>

Avil
14 Aug 2001, 15:54
Heirate mich is also a very good song...
I remember when I didn´t know what that meant, I said "heirate mich" to every guy on a party...*lol*
Now I know what it means...I didn´t mean it...hehehehe

first time I heard Rammstein was on The Lost Highway sountrack which was produced by Trent Reznor of NIN. Because of that soundtrack, I ended up getting all their albums, but I gotta tell ya, the remixes they did of Depeche Mode's "Stripped" was kick fucking ass. They have a great website too.

I haven´t looked at the lyrics actually, I´ve just learnt the words I hear.
There is something about a mother who haven´t given him a name, no sun shining at him etc...

-I love you dangerously-

Mrs.Picard
23 Aug 2001, 09:58
'Spieluhr' is about a child from that everybody thinks it is dead. So they dig a big hole and give the 'Spieluhr' to the child (that's why the song is called like that). The child awakes and plays with his toy in the wet ground.
Maybe you mean the song 'Mutter', this one is about a child that has no name and no mother.

Avil
23 Aug 2001, 22:39

I am a bad Rammstein fan. I still haven't heard Amerika. I don't even know when/if the new album is released here in the US yet. I have to pick it up, though...

Me too.

Though I honestly like the video of "Sonne" and I like them as
guys, their music sucks to me so bad.
Further their brazen way of stealing images, voice, topics, logo etc. of Laibach is inacceptable.

Some smart german journalist wrote about their lyrics: "Laibach
are eloquent artists, Rammstein just blood-and-honour- illiterates..."[smile]

wii
28 Sep 2004, 16:05
The only song I can bare to listen to, is their version of "Stripped", but that´s just because I love the song, and I laugh at how bad Rammstein are, so it´s quite amusing actually...

cover of "Das Model" - uuuuuurrrrrrrrghs...[yuck]

Jonatan
28 Sep 2004, 17:32
Come on guys. Rammstein have not just stolen everything from Laibach, and even if they had - why is it that noone cares about Laibach? Because they make boring music!!!

What's more important than style is the music and some people say that Rammstein has stolen everything from Oomph!, but then you must also say that Alphaville took their sound from Ultravox, for instance.

R+ is definately not boring and they have the best production of all bands I know (Swedish producer [wink]).
I love they way R+ mixes heavy low-tuned guitars with electronics and other natural elements. It all blends together perfectly and the sound is very clean. Till might not be the best singer in the world but his voice really fits their songs.

@Justus

Then you might not want to come home to me, because I play "Das Model" all the time - I think it's great!

@ Jonatan

We all know that tastes differ. So let´s face the facts:

-Rammstein are definitely commercially much more successful than any other band they have stolen from:
Laibach (the voice!!!, the machinewheel / cross logo etc. etc.) or Think About Mutation (who were the FIRST who
made a mixture of Techno, House and Metal; lots of bands have stolen from them: Waltari, Oomph!, even Die Krupps
in their later years) for example.
But that seems to be the destiny of founders: Also Kraftwerk had an influence on the whole music history - no doubt,
but their commercial success was comparatively low.

- No one cares about Laibach: www.nskstate.com !

- I see no parallels between Ultravox and Alphaville except they had their biggest hits
in the early eighties, quite at the same time
btw.

- I still would come to you, but I think I would need a lot of alcohol...

Jonatan
28 Sep 2004, 21:43
I think that Rammstein differs more from Laibach than most "real" rock-bands differ from each other, even the voice.

I've read several times people saying Alphaville took their sound from bands like Ultravox. I don't agree myself of course.

But if you bring alcohol to my place Justus, I might even be reasonable with the music choice [wink]

I'll probably be getting the new album for Christmas. I am interested to see how this new album is different from the others. I also downloaded "Ohne Dich" and liked that too so hence why I asked for it. What do you guys think of the new album compared to their others?

I have to admit, at first when I heard their cover of Stripped I laughed my ass off. But then after a while I got to like it. I can now appreciate Rammstein for their campyness and sense of humour.

Tara :)

Jonatan
07 Dec 2004, 23:32
I like the new album but I don't think it's as good as their best album "Mutter". There aren't as many great melodies in "Reise Reise", but the title song, "Mein Teil" and "Ohne dich" are among their best I also like "Los", "Amerika" and "Amour" a lot. "Stein um stein", "Dalai Lama" and "Keine Lust" also not bad. The only songs I really don't like are Moscow (too stupid lyrics) and Morgenstern (too boring).

I rank their albums like this:

1. Mutter
2. Reise Reise
3. Herzeleid
4. Sehnsucht

WychOfAvalon
08 Dec 2004, 00:18
I think Amour is probably my least listened to song so far for me - followed by Stein um Stein. Dalai Lama is beautiful although very sad. Amerika is great. Reise Reise is great.

I think my favorite song right now is Los. It's funny because people that know me and listen to Rammstein KNEW that would be my favorite song off the album before I even got to hear it :)

VÖLKERBALL – A BOOK COMPLETES THE TRIO !

Now it is announced, and it keeps us bear the next weeks until the release, which date is now set for the 17th of November as well, smiling. The two formats, that already have been introduced, will get a sibling in form of a limited edition. This has been worked on until recently.
Völkerball as a high quality photo book with 190 pages in format 27cm x 31cm will additionally to the content of the standard and special edition include an extra audio CD with further live recordings, which contains the entire concert. The pictures were taken by the French photographer Frederic Batier and address for a big part those areas, which one seldom gets to see. The band, highly concentrated during the last minutes before the concert, the band on stage but also during off-days. A big share of the book portraits the audience and presents wonderful images of the emotional world of the fans. Expectation, enthusiasm, delight, exhaustion. A booklet of this quality is a must for the Rammstein fan!
Since it is only available as a limited edition in this form, you shall keep your eyes open for that.

Völkerball is released in the following formats:

Rammstein's guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe is gonna release a solo album on 31th of August.
Last monday I heard a single on the radio. Sounds promising.

The other six-string guy Paul Landers obviously doesn't have such plans as he looked when I recently saw him in one of my favourite clubs around...

1st SINGLE “PUSSY”

“So take me now, oh don’t you see I can’t get laid in Germany…”

After four years of studio-abstinence, the first single of the new album is coming out September 18th! PUSSY! Carried by a gigantic wave of testosterone, Rammstein unsheathes its sword and presents what makes man an animal. So start your engines. With pedal to the metal on the Autobahn of German clichés, where homage is paid to the hand-to-hand battle between the sexes with words like Bratwurst, Blitzkrieg, and Mercedes-Benz … to destinations abroad, past Heidi with her burgers and away from the German Fräuleinwunder. There, pleasure lurks like a yawning abyss….

The single is appearing as a 2-track Digipack with the song “Rammlied” as B-side.
And look forward to a new video from Jonas Åkerlund, celebrating its premiere September 16th, 10 pm at www.visit-x.net/rammstein!
The new album appears in October, but more about that soon.

RAMMSTEIN: 'Pussy' Video Released - Sep. 16, 2009

"Pussy", the new video from the Berlin, Germany-based industrial metal sextet RAMMSTEIN, can be viewed at this location. (WARNING: The video contains nudity and sex scenes and is not suitable for minors.)

The CD artwork can be viewed below. The band's first new album in four years contains 11 songs which were once again mixed and mastered by Jacob Hellner in Stockholm, Sweden. Pre-production for the new release was done at Castle Beerenstedt in eastern Germany's Halle/Saale while the bulk of the recording was done in late 2008 at Northern California's Sonoma Mountain Studio.

On the initiative of our family minister Ursula von der Leyen, Rammstein's new album Liebe ist für alle da got checked by
the Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Medien, a German institution that checks media wether being harmful to youth.
The result is that the record got put on the index.

So from today on people under the age of 18 are not allowed to buy it and there must not be promotion for the album.
The S&M-song "Ich tu' dir weh" got forbidden to be played and it's prohibited to print the lyrics.
Other reasons were a photo in the booklet of Richard Z. Kruspe with a woman down his knees
and the single Pussy, which allegedly animates to have unsafe sex.

Of course this is only for the German market, this decision has no direct consequences for other countries.

Rammstein meanwhile have sold 300.000 copies of the record in Germany and are still on No. 1.
It's the first time in German history that a No.1-act got put on the index.

I've heard that Universal are planning to release a soft-version.

I think it's time for champagne at Till, Flake & Co. [wink]

I recently saw that five recordings of the German Rock am Ring festival Rammstein after the gig gave
free to MTV to play and I enjoyed them. You who have read this topic know my split relation to the band
but their acting on stage is interesting and consequent. The songs must have been Haifisch (Flake on
the rubber dinghy over the crowds again just like he used to when Seemann was played), Rammlied,
Ich tu' Dir weh (nice S/M-scene between Flake and Till), Ich will and some one else...
