Esbjerg Rock Festival
Saturday - June 16 2007 - 12:00 to 24:00
Festivalpladsen - Gl. Vardevej - 6700 Esbjerg - Denmark

http://www.80erfestival.dk/

Artists:
Alphaville
Nena (in the beginning synthpop, but later on poprock - biggest hit "99 Luftballons")
Belinda Carlisle (pop - biggest hits "Heaven is a place on earth" and "I get weak")
Jimmy Sommerville (synthpop - the singer from Bronski Beat and The Communards)
Midge Ure (synthpop - the singer from Ultravox)
T'Pau (poprock - biggest hits "China in your hand" and "Heart and soul")
One Two (Danish band - rock)
Rocazino (Danish band - synthpop)

To call it a rockfestival is to me a bit strange, because most of the 8 bands who are performing are synthbased bands who had their big time in the 80s. Last year the festival was called "A day in the 80s" which is a lot more correct. I was not at the festival last year, but my guess is that all artists will play 60-90 minutes and in between there will be 80s music played in a big tent where 4 Danish DJs who where big in the 80s will flip some records.

Alphavillefans who we know are joining this event:

Willy Nielsen (wii)
Peter Krappinger (Krapplund)
Lisa Larsson (Lisa)
Poul Erik Andersen (poul e)
Jonas Persson (Tjommen)
Nils Olsson
Ken Simonsen
Thomas Toftgaard
Morten Toftdahl
Michael Kristensen + friend Michael
David Witkowski (davidhorizon)
Patrik Karlsson (Patten)
Trond Sørøy (Trond)
Svein Erik Vatle
Patrick Anthony Ryan

Anyone know a great place to stay in Esbjerg? We better start looking for a place as I think all hostels, hotels etc will be full the weekend of this event. I have started looking for a place for us. Members of New Horizons will have first priority.

Do we really need a place to sleep ? I´m thinking about taking the first train home in the morning and just party all night [wink]

Yeah, it seems it´s not a problem to get a train at around 4 am to Copenhagen - no problems, we have done this many times.

Katrin

I might come too!
My parents would agree with it but we dont know yet how much the trip will cost.
I think few more german fans would come to denmark too...

I hope I can make it... [smile]

I'm trying to find a place to stay for us, but it is proving pretty difficult as most places already seem to be full booked. I will keep trying though as I don't think I will want to party for 18 hours straight and then go sit in a train...

to the danish people, do you know how offen the trains are going do we have to book tickets from home or on the train
me and nils olsson will travel from helsingborg and will take the train from helsingör to copenhagen and then change to a train to esbjerg, how much does it cost?? is there a trainlist on net

poul e
30 Jan 2007, 19:41
@tjommen: it's pretty expensive to travel by train in Denmark so it might be cheaper for you to buy tickets in Sweden although I don't know how high Swedish train prices are. But in Denmark you get a discount when you travel far....and if you are a group (3+) you get a rather good discount.

I recommend that you book seats.

You can use this page http://www.rejseplanen.dk/ to check trains in Denmark, but there will be a new plan in April so you can't search for travelplans beyond that. But usually the plans only have minor changes so you can get a good idea just how they will be....

paulg
30 Jan 2007, 20:05
Me and Jan are very intrested in going and will have to start looking for accomodation if eveything is going quickly!!

I'm sure the trains can't be anymore expensive than they are in England!!

Trond
31 Jan 2007, 09:41
I will eventually come with Color Line and arrive in Hirtshals or Fredrikshavn.
Is it far from Esbjerg??

poul e
31 Jan 2007, 10:24
I will eventually come with Color Line and arrive in Hirtshals or Fredrikshavn.
Is it far from Esbjerg??

That depends how far far is for you....my guess would be that it's about 350 km.

Trond
31 Jan 2007, 11:09
That is far... too far

wii
31 Jan 2007, 11:17
350, that´s about the same distance from Copenhagen to Esbjerg.

Krapplund
31 Jan 2007, 12:03
than i have 650 km to travell.....

poul e
31 Jan 2007, 20:50
I only have about 300km to travel....but still about 4 hours by train

I have now tried to find rooms in the cheapest and medium priced accomodations and it seems like everything is booked for that weekend already.

It is possible to get and "ok price" at the hotels if you pay upfront, but that's not really something I would like to pay for now.

So it seems like we have to pay something like 100 Euros for each night for each person unless I succeed in finding something else.

I am on standby at DanHostel Esbjerg where a group will tell them in April how many rooms they need, but we can't really rely on getting rooms there.

My intitial plan was to arrive Friday and go shopping a bit Saturday before I go to the festival, but it seems like I might need to change my plans and arrive Saturday before the festival and go home during the night...

How many need a place to stay in Esbjerg? I will keep looking if anyone needs accomodation and I haven't yet decided if I want to stay there either. If we are a group then perhaps we could get a discount....

So please contact me if you need help in finding a place to stay and I will see what I can do!

Krapplund
01 Feb 2007, 16:20
Maybe there´s any youth hostels in the near?

For me I would sleep over and not take the train back in the morning if i can.
100 Euro for a night it´s abit to expensive I think....

poul e
04 Feb 2007, 09:00
The youth hostel (DanHostel) is full. I am on a waitinglist for rooms there, but I don't have high hopes.

I have found a place where we can stay for about 70 Euro a night including breakfast. I am considering to stay there myself for 1 or 2 nights. I will arrive either Friday afternoon/evening or Saturday around 10. The hotel is located in the center of Esbjerg only 100 meters from the trainstation. There is also a citybus stop within 100 meters. In several rooms there is free internet and a TV.

If we are to find a place together I think we need to act pretty fast...

What do you think?? Does anyone want to stay with me in that hotel??

Krapplund
04 Feb 2007, 10:52
Looks good!

I´m on it. At least one night Saturday to Sunday.

I saw that if you get a dubbelrom it will cost 87 Euro and if a room with three beds it will cost 103 Euro....not so bad

Trond
05 Feb 2007, 11:34
Svein Erik Vatle has decided to be on the festival. He is searching for the easiest way to travel ti Esbjerg. Maybe I will join him then ;> If, we are interested in your hotel Poul.

poul e
05 Feb 2007, 15:40
I am considering to book 6-8 beds in that hotel, but I need to know if everyone will be arriving on the day of the event (Saturday) or Friday.

Krapplund
05 Feb 2007, 18:59
hmm.....good question.

But did i have right about the price "dubbelrom it will cost 87 Euro and if a room with three beds it will cost 103 Euro"???

But I think I will arrive at Saturday....

poul e
05 Feb 2007, 19:54
@krapplund: Where did you find those prices?
The hotel I am looking at is called "Palads Hotel Cab Inn".
Have you found a cheaper place that is not yet fully booked???

06 Feb 2007, 17:02
to poul e. how soon do you need to know about the hotel booking me and nils olsson might be intressting.

poul e
06 Feb 2007, 20:31
@tjommen: it's hard to say....I have no idea how many rooms they have left.
but this is the last hotel in Esbjerg where we can stay for a fair price so I don't want to wait for much longer. But I'm considering to book some beds and then we'll see.....it also depends whether or not it's possible to book rooms without paying upfront...

so far it doens't seem like the need for rooms is high so I'm guessing 8-10 beds should be enough....

poul e
06 Feb 2007, 21:23
OK. I now have some prices from CabInn Hotel:
1 Euro is about 7,50 Danish Krone (DKK)

Singleroom: 625 DKK
Double room: 745 DKK
Triple room: 865 DKK

Then they have some very small rooms:
Singleroom: 525 DKK
Double room: 645 DKK
Triple room: 765 DKK

And there is no extra discount to get I'm afraid....

so these are the prices....please tell me what you need!

I suggest that we prebook 2 triple rooms and 2 double rooms....what do you think?

Krapplund
07 Feb 2007, 12:13
For me it would be right with a small triple room, I just want to sleep there and have some beer/drinks [wink][wink]

07 Feb 2007, 16:36

When is Martin Lister entering the stage in Esbjerg??
Is Alphaville the headliner or Midge Ure, maybe...????
We need a vorspiel you know.

Trond
09 Feb 2007, 09:50
@Poul; Can you book one double-room for me (Trond Sørøy) and Svein Erik Vatle. We arrive saturday morning, so we need the room for one night, saturday to sunday.

What about tickets to the festival. Can you buy two for us??
I have paypal and can give you the money prompte.

poul e
09 Feb 2007, 18:45
@Trond: I think Nena will be the headliner and Alphaville probably number 2 so it will be the Germans ruling the show [smile2]

I will take a wild guess how they will play during the day....but this is only a guess!!

12:00 Rocazino
13:30 T'Pau
15:00 Jimmy Sommerville
16:30 Midge Ure
18:00 Belinda Carlisle
19:30 One Two
21:00 Alphaville
22:30 Nena

I will book a double room for you and Svein Erik for 1 night.

You can buy tickets for the festival here:
http://www.billetnet.dk/html/evinfo.htmI?CNTX=9431485&l=EN&C=

If that doesn't work I will see what I can do...

wii
09 Feb 2007, 19:41
Oh no, Jimmy Sommerville is definately number 3.

poul e
09 Feb 2007, 23:04
@wii: Jimmy Sommerville?? What are you basing that on? Definately not the number of hits he's had as a solo artist!! For me he's had 2 big hits in his career...."Smalltown boy" with Bronski Beat and "Don't leave me this way" with Communards. "Why" could perhaps also be considered a reasonably big hit...

I guess I am placing Belinda Carlisle high because of personal preference....she is one of my favourite artists of all time. Based on hits in Denmark she should perhaps be below Midge Ure....I don't know...

As far as I know OneTwo are playing their first concert in more than 15 years and they were extremely popular in the 80s here in Denmark....I never liked them much myself though....

My personal preference list between these artists is something like this:
1. Alphaville
2. Belinda Carlisle
3. Nena
4. Rocazino
5. Midge Ure
6. Jimmy Sommerville
7. T'Pau
8. OneTwo

I will probably find something else to do while T'Pau and OneTwo and perhaps also Jimmy Sommerville are playing....we'll see....

poul e
09 Feb 2007, 23:06
@Krapplund: I don't know if we can share a room if I arrive Friday and you arrive Saturday....

There must be other people who needs a room???

wii
09 Feb 2007, 23:10
Bronski Beat and Communards were very popular in Denmark in the 80s, I´m sure many would love to see good old Jimmy screaming his best [wink]

My list:

1. Alphaville
2. Jimmy Sommerville
3. Nena
4. Midge Ure
5. Belinda Carlisle
6. Rocazino
7. OneTwo
8. T'Pau

I will go to the bar, when 1-4 are done playing [laugh]

poul e
09 Feb 2007, 23:13
@wii: Yes they were popular, but one of the very best Bronski Beat songs "Hit that perfect beat" has nothing to do with Jimmy Sommerville....

wii
09 Feb 2007, 23:18
That´s the only one he didn´t sing, the other hits are great too, my personal favorite is Smalltown Boy.

poul e
09 Feb 2007, 23:21
I only like 3 Jimmy Sommerville hits...."Smalltown boy", "Why" and "Don't leave me this way". Smalltown boy is by far the best of those 3...

poul e
12 Feb 2007, 06:39
I have now prebooked a couple of rooms at CabInn Hotel:

Doubleroom Friday-Sunday: Jonas Persson-Nils Olsson
Doubleroom Saturday-Sunday: Trond Sørøy-Svein Erik Vatle
Doubleroom Friday-Sunday: Poul Erik Andersen-free
Tripleroom Saturday-Sunday: Peter Krappinger-2 free

Let's hope someone wants to stay with us Peter [wink]

There are still some rooms left at CabInn Hotel, but I don't think there will be rooms to get if you wait another month or 2...

Trond
12 Feb 2007, 10:29
Nice Poul. Thanks.
I am looking forward to hear Midge Ure actually. And I have to be in front when T´Pau perform their beautiful ballade, I guess it was "Valentine" ?? I go in the bar when Nena is on stage. But anyhow, this will be GREAT.

Trond
27 Feb 2007, 14:48
Yes, let´s hope so. I have been talking to him twice this morning, and he has 100 minutes to go by bus and train from where I live. That is not too far I think. So he will travel with us.... I guess.

Krapplund
27 Feb 2007, 20:25
@Trond: Hope he joins...always nice to meet all the fans....

And than we maybe can full my room to:

Tripleroom Saturday-Sunday: Peter Krappinger - 2 free

poul e
27 Feb 2007, 22:51
How about you change rooms so Trond + friends get the tripleroom and Krapplund gets the doubleroom....perhaps with Patten?? The I don't need to change the reservations as I haven't given the hotel any names yet.

If more people wants rooms at the CabInn Hotel with us please write to me (or here) really soon as I think it is getting hard to get rooms.

4000 tickets have already been sold to the festival. Last year 7000 people attended the festival but this time it will probably be sold out (13000).

Trond
28 Feb 2007, 09:48
Patrik Patten Karlsson travel with us on Color Line from Larvik to Hirtshals.

So I join Poul´s idea.
Me, Svein Erik & Patrick on the triple room.
And Krapplund + Patrik 04 on the doubleroom.

28 Feb 2007, 14:23

poul e
05 Mar 2007, 20:10
It is now confirmed....Morten Toftdahl is joining us in Esbjerg and will stay with me in a doubleroom. So now the beds I booked are all occupied. If someone needs a place to stay contact me asap and I will try to get more rooms at CabInn.

poul e
20 Mar 2007, 06:42
I updated the list of AV fans joining this event....the list is growing!!

I got an e-mail yesterday from the festival. It's now possible to buy special "VIP tickets" for 295 DKK. The minimum is a group of 10 people. There will be a special VIP tent where you get the special Danish food "helstegt pattegris" which is a small pig fried on a "firebed". You also get an 80s speciality "landgangsbrød" which is a long bread with all different kinds of stuff on it. You also get 2 free beers and some special events for those who have the VIP tickets.

What they don't say in the e-mail is whether or not you will get the chance to meet the artists in this tent....that is what I would be most interested in....not all this food and stuff. So unless most of you want to buy VIP tickets I don't think it's worth it...but now you know about it....

Trond
20 Mar 2007, 07:45
I have already bought 4 tickets. And I have to pay 295 DKK more to get VIP-status?? Would you mind checking if the tent is some kind of backstage-area?? If it is, that is interesting. If not, I dont care [laugh]

poul e
20 Mar 2007, 12:09
I agree 100% Trond!!

I'm waiting for an answer from the festival if it's a "backstagearea"...

Cassiel
20 Mar 2007, 12:59
what if i get this VIP-ticket and i am a vegetarian?? beer is always welcome but no meat...

poul e
20 Mar 2007, 13:08
what if i get this VIP-ticket and i am a vegetarian?? beer is always welcome but no meat...

then you can only eat the sidedish for the pig....not the "landgangsbrød"

poul e
20 Mar 2007, 13:56
I got an answer from the festival.....the VIP tent is not a backstagearea. The backstagearea is for the performers only. That was also what I thought and therefor I'm not interested in paying 295 DKK for a place in the tent!

Trond
20 Mar 2007, 14:00
I have sent a mail to the festival and asked them when we can expect Alphaville on stage. In the e-mail answer they told that this was not decided yet. We will arrive Esbjerg 12 o´clock, so I hope Alphaville is playing late. We have to have a loooong vorspiel you know !!!

I'm 99% sure that Alphaville won't be among the first performers. In fact I think they will end the show with Nena. My guess is this:
12:00 Rocazino
13:30 T'Pau
15:00 Jimmy Sommerville
16:30 Belinda Carlisle
18:00 Midge Ure
19:30 OneTwo
21:00 Alphaville
22:30 Nena

Re: the VIP tickets...
In 2004 or 05 (cant remember) I went to the Guildfest (guidlford UK) and we had VIP tickets and could get food and drinks in the VIP tent. Unfortunately it did not get us backstage and the performing acts had there own tent in the backstage area, so they did not enter the VIP tent.
The VIP tent is mostly for other (so called) very important people, which are paying more money for tickets, only NOT to mix with the normal crowed... have better food/drinks and better access to toilets....
I can imagine it will be similar in Esbjerg...

so, my advice:
I would not bother paying more money. I would rather check with moonbase to organize an av-aftershow party somewhere in a bar/restaurant....

all the best :)

Of all the people on the ferry it had to be Krapplund who kissed me [wink] Well, to tell the truth, I can do a lot if I get a really nice kiss, although I guess Esbjerg will be a bit difficult for me to join now.

Dan Hostel have had a couple of cancellations and as I'm on a waitinglist there they are now offering me 3 4-person rooms. They are a bit cheaper than the rooms at CabInn Hotel, but also a lot poorer quality. Another problem is that we are only 10 people for 12 beds and we arrive at different times.

Personally I want to keep our reservations at CabInn Hotel where we still have the chance to get more rooms if more people should show interest in that. But what do you think???

If I arrive in time I will watch Rocazino. Then I will probably grab something to eat while T'Pau are on stage. Hm...I would really like to go to Esbjerg. I had other stupid plans before (for this summer and my life), but they didn't work out. Therefore I didn't think it would be possible for me to go at all until now.

I see that tickets are still available, so it is now possible. But it's a bit far to travel alone by car from Norrköping (Sweden) to Esbjerg, I think. Is there maybe someone who would like to travel together? I will be at work both Friday and Monday, but it could be possible to begin the journey on Friday at around 16.00 and then stay at a hotel from Friday to Saturday somewhere in the south of Sweden...

If anyone is interested, please let me know as soon as possible (before it's too late to buy tickets; they take four days to send them and then probably two days to arrive!!). Maybe someone who lives near the E4 would like to join somewhere?? Maybe we could split petrol costs and maybe drive a part each. But mainly it's just a bit boring to drive 8 hours or so alone.

Newsflash:
Jimmy Sommerville is suffering from an illness and won't be able to perform at Esbjerg Rock Festival. Instead of him Paul Young will come and sing songs like "Wherever I lay my hat that's my home", "Come back and stay" and my personal favourite "Love of the common people".

So the new playlist is like this:

12.15 Rocazino
14.15 T'Pau

17.00 Paul Young
18.30 Alphaville

Here's the list of when people will be arriving.
Friday around 15:30 Nils & Jonas will arrive at the hotel
Friday around 15:30 Morten & Poul arrive at the hotel
Saturday around 11:30 Patrick, Svein Erik, Patrik 04 and Trond will arrive
Saturday around 12:30 Willy, Ken & David arrive at the festival
Saturday around 15:30 Lisa & Peter arrive at the hotel

I don't think Morten and I will arrive at the festival before 14-15 because we will go vinylhunting in the morning and then we will grab something to eat before we go to the festival. Rocazino isn't THAT important and I don't care about T'Pau. It doesn't seem like New Horizons is going to help Moonbase sell merchandise as Claudia never answered my e-mail offering her our help so I don't need to be there early.....

Change of plans.....we will arrive earlier Friday and probably also go to the festival when it begins because Morten really wants to see Rocazino. If the weather is terrible we will probably wait until Midge Ure...

I will also come to Esbjerg! I finally managed to pursuade a co-worker to go, and today I bought tickets for us. (It's still not sold out.) It was too late to buy tickets to be sent by post from Billetnet (they write that it takes four workdays!), and reserved tickets must be picked up in Denmark or Malmö within two days...so my solution was to buy on the phone from Julius Biljettservice in Malmö. They accept credit card payments over the phone and send the tickets immediately by registered post, which just takes one day within Sweden - perfect!
We'll discuss hotelrooms in our lunch break. CabInn seems sold out (according to their website), and I haven't found any other hotel with available rooms in Esbjerg that night. So maybe we'll stay in Kolding for example. That's about 60 km from Esbjerg, and we have a car (so no beer...).
I hope to meet some of you on Saturday!

We are now getting really close to what will probably be the biggest event this year for Scandinvians who loves music from the 80's.

Some of us will be taking the bus to and from the hotel and therefor I have written down some info about how to do just that:
There will be extra busses to and from trainstation to Festivalpladsen. The bus which go to Festivalpladsen is called "4" (to Bævervej v Gjesing Centret). The busstop is placed at the cross between Jernbanegade and Kongensgade. The normal busses leave with app. a half hour interval. I don't know when the extra busses will be leaving the station. It's also a possibility to take bus "41" (to Skjern rtb). The important thing is that you find a bus which goes to Esbjerg Stadion/Festivalpladsen. The venue is right next to the footballstadium "Esbjerg Stadion".

I just noticed that the venue is only about 3 km from the hotel so right now I'm considering to grab a few beer and walk there instead....of course it also depends on the weather. I have added a map of the walk.

The general terms of Cabinn are here:

http://www.cabinn.com/BetingelserUK.htm

I can understand that they can give the rooms to someone else if we don't show up before 18.00, as we haven't paid yet. They are of course afraid the rooms will be empty and no-one will pay. I can also understand if they can't give us the keys before 15.00 if the rooms are occupied the night before and haven't been cleaned before that.

But anyway we will try to check in when we arrive (maybe around 12.00-13.00). Maybe we can pay then (so they know for sure the room won't be unpaid) and pick up our keys after midnight. Let's hope so!

@nixie: yes I can see the dilemma. CabInn have a late checkout (11:00) so perhaps they haven't finished cleaning the room before you arrive at 12-13. But if you pay for your room in advance I'm sure you will have no problems!

Do they accept Visa ?? I know I can use Visa in DK, but I wonder if I have to exchange to danish kroner.

Well, it is written also in English and not just for Swedish people. And it's not really my first time outside Sweden...for example a few weeks ago I went to Moscow by car - and last August I went to Albania and Greece and 15 other countries by car. Travelling and music - and love - is what is important in my life right now!

But no worries - let's have fun - soon the weekend is here!

Do not be so serious on this forum, Nixie.
I was just kidding. You saw my smilies?? Just 4 Fun. [smile] [smile]

I'm afraid it's only possible to use DKK at the festival. I checked their homepage and the only thing that is mentioned is that it's only possible to use "Dankort" in one place at the festival....so I take it that everywhere else it's only possible to pay with Danish kroner. But you can exchange money at the hotel. It's probably chaeper for you to do it at home though...
They accept all major creditcards at the hotel.

@David: It´s bad that you don´t can join...have been a long time since we last time hade a cold beer together, but hope for the best for you money-problems.

@david: I'm so sorry to hear that you won't be able to join us!! I was looking forward to telling you face to face how great your music is!!
I know all about moneyproblems.....we just finished building an addition to our house and we're still waiting for the final bill which will be in the region of 600000DKK. Besides that we have a son who is now 8 months old so my wife has been on maternity leave not long ago. It would be best for our economy if I stayed home but I just won't let this chance pass me by....I love most of the artists performing at this event so I have to go....simple as that!

@Krapplund: I'm fairly certain the hotel takes all kinds of creditcards and you can also exchange/withdraw money there. But the hotel is placed right next to the pedestrain street which I'm certain also contain lots of places where you can get some money!!!

yes....the weatherforecast for Saturday looks really bad. We've already had a severe drop in temperature....3 days ago it was 18-30 night and day. Yesterday it was 19 at the warmest and this morning only 10 degrees. And the forecast for Esbjerg says 12mm rain and 21 degrees when it's warmest. They have said the same for the past 3 days so I'm beginning to be afraid they might be right....but let's hope for the best!!!!

Yes....we changed our plans. We will come early and go for a walk in the pedestrain street. I have heard about a great shop with used vinyl, CDs and DVDs so we want to go see what that's about [wink]

My friend Morten and I haven't yet decided what to do Friday evening other than "not too much" because we want to save some strength for Saturday. But yes....we can go find a place to get something to eat and then perhaps a beer or 2 in a cafe or perhaps at the hotel....

If we don't meet eachother when we check in you can phone me and we will figure something out!

btw: they have free internet at the hotel [smile]

poul e

@tjommen: I have no idea if you can use a digital camera. I was thinking about bringing my portable minidisc recorder but I honestly think they will take that at the entrance. These days most people have a camera in their mobile phones so in my opinion it shouldn't be a problem to use a digital camera but you never know at these events.

You can try to write to the festival but I doubt you will get an answer before you leave home...

The weather was perfect! And the band where in topform. When Marian entered the stage he looked like he had just been sleeping, but he made a great impression on the app. 10000 people who were at the festival!!

Thanx to Lisa, Peter, Jonas, Nils, Michael, Michael, Morten, Willy, Ken, Thomas, Trond, Svein Erik, Patrick and Patrik for helping to make this festival a very memorable event! It was great to meet you all!!!!!

The band played a song we weren't sure about the title of but we guess it was "Question of happiness".....an okay song....especially the final part with all the synth [smile]

Most of the pics I took on my mobile were poor and the sound I recorded (also on my mobile) was terrible. I really look forward to seeing some of your pictures!!!

Good to hear you had a good time, Poul E [party][beer]

I certainly did Adi! It was a fantastic event! Not only Alphaville but also Midge Ure, Belinda Carlisle, Paul Young and Nena were really great! Peter, Lisa, Morten, Michael, Michael and I were in the front 6 rows at all these shows and the front 2 rows when Alphaville was on stage [wink] Marian also mentioned that he noticed at lot of friends in the audience [smile2]

Nena's stageshow was second to none. She was all over the stage and even invited some people up close to the stage only for the security people to remove them after a while....she also told a photographer off because he got too close to her. At one point she also "helped" the drummer while singing.....that's not something you see each day!

Paul Young also delivered an energetic performance....his voice is not that strong but he compensated by using the whole stage plus small areas at the edge of the stage (on top of speakers) and he also threw himself to the ground at one point.

Midge Ure played hits like "Vienna", "Dancing with tears in my eyes", "If I was" and "Love's great adventure" and he played a cover of "Fade to grey".

Belinda is also still going strong. The crowd knew most of her songs and besides the Danish bands which I didn't watch I think she performed the most songs which people could sing along to.

The only thing I remember for certain is that Gallery was the first song and Forever young the last. Then they came back and played Golden feeling and Apollo.
They played these songs:
Big in Japan
A victory of love
Dance with me
Sounds like a melody
Jerusalem
Summer in Berlin
Jet Set
I'd die for you today
Monkey in the moon
Carry your flag
Question of happiness (at least I think it was)

I think I am missing a song or 2, but right now I can't remember which....

Katrin

Ah, that´s great, "Summer in Berlin" and "Apollo"! But who is "Uround the Universe"? :-(
