Well..When I tried to register with me excite address I was banned, me address was AlwaysInAlphaville@excite.com and they banned me, I thought perfect, ban a total Alphaville fan, So I went and made a hotmail account and tried that, so now I am on with Trent_MacLeod@hotmail.com, me sister has tried several times to get on and she can't even get an answer much less a ban so I don't know what's going on there. I have to forward her all the posts that go on the e-groups, And neither one of did anything wrong, except love AV..But I don't see any wrong in that

Well, in any case, I think a forum is a much better way to communicate. I don´t get my e-mail account filled with lots of posts about stuff that doesn´t interest me, and I choose myself what I want to read.

but this is another disussion:

i have banned none of you.
i have just banned two guys - one that we all know from the dark past and another one who subscribed and unsubscribed almost daily with the same address. it must be a server error. why didn't you just drop me a line? when subscribing you'll see the address of the list master....

is it your hotmail that's banned now too? or just the other address? I don't know what's up with it, but I've heard from a couple of people now that they've had trouble getting into the egroups list. All I can suggest is to try e-mailing Tobi.

I don't know about banned, but since this forum started, I haven't seen postings in 'coons age.

hi there. i just stopped by after a long time. what can i say about the problems mentioned about possible bannings: when approving memberships just one person was banned, and that was that andrejmm guy. i did another banning on an address by someone who subscribed and unsubscribed with the same address almost daily. that was the address with the michaelschumacher.com appendix. ias i assumed it was that andrej guy again. if you feel you have been banned without a reason - please communicate! send me an email, i'm not doing my job with the intention to anger people and notrent, i do not hate you. it wouldnt make any sense for me to create forums for the fans and not to let them in, would it? another reason for a possible banning could have been that i simply chose the wrong entry from the popup menu i have to use when approving menus. sorry - i'm a human... again - please let me know .

@Krapplund : ask Claudia what to do.
I once had a problem like this and she helped me.
I remember i unsubscribed and then subscribed again but there is another solution.
Just ask her.

@ Krapplund

That happened to me last week. It said that it couldn't deal with my post at that moment. I mailed the support @ Yahoo like it said to and, 2 days later, it was fine!

To be honest though, I think my posting was a little bit too long!

I don't post there. only receive digests. never had problems like that. but there were a couple of digests that I've never received... they got lost somewhere...

I thought it was quiet, but really!!!!!!!

Who cares, this forum has 7 times more posts than the mailinglist, and sometime this year I expect even more members here than the list, then we can officially announce the foum as the largest AV community in the world [wink]

@Clare : there must be something wrong with Yahoo's e-mail server or something like that....
Just ask Claudia if she knows anything about this.

Trent

It's a Yahoo bug...Yahoo is always buggy...Today my webpage was gone and I didn't delete it or anything, I had to republish it for it to come back...

I only skim thru the digests fast. Thereīs a long time between anything interesting on the mailinglist nowadays IMO. And if I try to post something chances are that it doesnīt go thru. I think Iīll cancel my membership there. And then if something interesting is posted on the mailinglist I will learn about it here anyway....

Another problem with the mailinglist can be seen now. They had to unmoderate for war discussions, lost some members because of this. Here you can discuss war or anything else offtopic as you please without interrupting any AV discussions, Iīm so glad I started this forum...[wink]

poul e
23 Mar 2003, 11:09
Yes I agree! I still get the digests from the mailinglist, but I really donīt want to read all these offtopic messages now. 99% of my reasons for still being a member of the mailinglist is Marian Gold. Iīm really close to cancel my membership.....Iīm only using the mailinglist to pick up CS numbers and signatures at the moment...

Iīm kinda tired about this war-discussions as well, but otherwisw I think the e-groups are quite nice.
Many persons express their feelings about AV. Great.

Alien

this off-topic discussion there sucks. hmm... and now with all these rude posts it's not even discussion anymore. it's war inside the mailing-list.

yes, its sad about the mailinglist - its gotten quite out of hand. I think we all forget that the REAL reason we were members of the mailinglist and this forum is because we all LOVE Alphaville.

Alphaville is the reason we come here to visit and learn about eachother and end up liking eachother so much because we can learn about eachother - this forum is much more personal than the mailinglist in that way.

The problem with the mailinglist is that people get quite rude and mean and you just don't see that in this forum. You know, we represent many of the nations of this world and many of the different religions and social, economic and ethnic groups and we all have one thing in common - we love Alphaville. Of course we are going to disagree on many things - some are pacificts and some are not - and it shouldn't matter as the mailinglist and forum only exist because of Alphaville and not because of politics or any other reason.

As for Yahoo - it acts up like that all the time - you are much better off here where we get to know eachother and where you do not find the backbiting and complete rudeness that exists on the mailinglist!!

Three cheers for the forum - it may not be the largest yet, but it is the BEST AV community out there already!!

I think Russ has hit the nail on the head! This forum is actually much better than the Yahoo mailinglist. I already have the feeling I get to know you all very well (although you all do not, I suposse...) in this short period I'm back online! Hear you ctach the latest news as well, so I already did what Russ hinted at...stop the mailinglist and support this forum!!!!
