Falco was great... too bad he had to die... Ok, I don't know so many songs of his, but those that I've heard will stay in my heart forever... He still lives - in us and our memories... Rest In Peace. (I know it was about three yrs ago, but still...better late than never!)
"the 80's child"
I've heard only Rock me Amadeus and Jeanny... These two are among my favorite songs generally... I also watched part of TV program in german dedicated him... There were fragments of his other songs. I liked them.

"Der kommisar" and couple of hit remix collections...njääh
"It`s me - Julian"
I think that Falco sounds like a mix between rap and synth.

Good definition, Avil! I agree...

Due to the extremely poor coverage Falco got in the UK it was only a year ago that i found out that he died!!! This made me feel quite sad as his songs are classics from my childhood. Can anyone provide us with any info like how he died or how old he was or does anyone know of a website where i can find this information.

well, I was pleasantly surprised when I purchased the Rock Me Amadeus 12" vinyl and it had a mix of Vienna Calling on the other side!!!!
***This life is expensive, but at least it comes with a free trip around the sun!***
Oh, that was a while ago.
Schade... would have been interesting to hear his music today...
Or did he stop making music in the 80´s??

Falco made music up until his death. In fact he just finished his last album before he died. It came out shortly after with the title "Out of the dark". If you want to know more about Falco this is the best page I´ve found about him: http://www.falco-calling.com/

Found today a cd of Falco on a flea market
'The Remix Hit Collection'
With:
1. Der Kommisar (Part 2)
2. Rock Me Amadeus Club Remix
3. Jeanny (part 1)
4. Data de Groove Club Remix
5. Vienna Calling
6. Junge Römer
7. Wiener Blut Club remix
8. Emotional
9. Coming Home (Jeanny part 2)
10. Falco Megamix
11. The Sound Of Music
Weird is that on the cd cover I can find an label with this text 'C.D. ITALIA FABBRICATO ESTERO' and a number '43026332'. Does someone know what this means?
Can´t help you, Angel.
Hmm, nice topic: I think Falco never had released "Out Of The Dark" this way if he had been still alive.
Some people of his environment (former keyboarder Thomas Rabitsch as producer, his former manager etc.) released
a "Falco-like" album half an year after his death called "Verdammt wir leben noch" - very good; including the last
songs he recorded and former ones, which didn´t make it to other albums for several reasons.

I had found this double-maxi-set / 7 new mixes : Falco - Titanic - The Mixes
1. Club Mix (131 BPM) - Another Mixz mix / Mix 2
2. 12' Mix / TV Mix
3. Dance 'til you drop techno (127 BPM)
4. Mouse Vocal (119 BPM) / Funky Ragga (115 BPM)
I saw 'FOR PROMOTION ONLY!'
Is this something rare?
@ Angel: I´ve never seen that. I think it´s very rare.
I´d go for it (especially cos I love "Titanic" very much).
Is it good? What year has it been released (or delivered, as a promo)?
Are these own mixes or remixes by other artists, DJs etc.?

New album & DVD "Symphonic" !!!
Back in '94 Falco did a legendary big concert accompanied by a huge orchestra and a choir in Vienna in front of 10.000 people.
Everybody was curious about a record of it, especially after he had died. All excerpts I had seen were
overwhelming.
Unfortunately the way they had recorded it made it an auditive disaster.
So, in time to the 10th anniversary of Falco's death on 6th of February, they release it after a struggle of
production work I assume. Because Thomas Rabitsch, the former musical director and live keyboarder of Falco from the very beginning, who also had produced the excellent "Verdammt wir leben noch"-album,
extracted Falco's voice and polished it to a diamond and put it to the choir and orchestral tracks he
had recorded - again!
As the previews say it surprisingly sounds fantastic, funky and outstanding!
Among the experts this one is praised like if he had raised from the grave.
Journalists are writing things like "Falco's voice is flirting with the orchestra", engineers say "This is a kind
of perfection that really shows what's possible today", fans at amazon...find it out!
To get a chance to compare, there will be also three or four of the original "bad" tracks as a bonus.
Can't wait to get it.
Cheers.

Wooohoooo!! Me to!!!
Gotta correct myself about a detail: The CD bonus tracks are not from the original disastrous recordings,
but a teaser for the DVD stuff (and they sound lovely I tell you!).
The normal CD tracks - contrarily to the DVD - obviously hardly feature any live material, but various
studio vocal tracks. Anyway: It sounds fantastic! [jump2]
You can tell by these releases that somebody close to Falco was responsible for the work.
On the backside of the cover are the words
"Mit großer Verbeugung vor einem großen Künstler
Thank you Falco
Danke Hans"
(With a big bow to a big artist. Thank you Falco. Danke Hans)
Says it all.

Falco did get plenty of air time on Much Music in the day and we appreciated that administrative decision. I agree that he was far ahead of his time with the synth/rap. His voice, the music and awesome videos rocked us Amadeus and always will. We miss him so very much.

funny... was going through my closet last night looking for something else and I discovered that I had not lost my Falco - Rock Me Amadeus 12" record with Vienna Calling as the B-Side after all! Oh the memories!!!!! Now that is a mid 80's treasure!!!
Funny - I'm listening to Vienna Calling ("live") (no joke!). Now that I also bought that "Symphonic"-DVD,
I listen to it excessively -
That CD version is great, but - believe it or not - somehow it is TOO FAT! I really prefer the music of
the DVD, because it has the perfect live-illusion and sounds a bit more open and airy...
My prognose for 2008: It will be hard for any artist I'm interested in to beat that this year.
Maybe Portishead.
AV will not go and release something this year anyway...[smile2][laugh]

ohnoo.. did we all forget about the day that Falco died 11 years ago - 6 february...
Nice I never saw the Falco thread before until jajaja gave me the link [smile]
I love his work. My favorit songs are Jeanny, Amadeus, (evrything from the Falco3 album Okay ^^) and Out of the dark.
He was a real showman, and full of talent.

Weird that I discovered this a year after it has been posted even though I usually read most of the topics. Well, I guess I wasn't quite myself this time last year....
I watched and listened to the samples and I think I'll put the DVD on my wishlist...

Around 18:30-19:00 today on Arte TV (France) there was a long review on Falco's career, with lots of interviews, lives, video clips and so on. Best and most interestings moments are the interviews parts ; I don't know if it will be re-broadcasted, but it's worth a watch (Arte TV Germany ?).
